Background Information:

Silas was born to a military family on both his mother's side and his father's side. While his mother's family had all been aurors in their time, the members of his father's family had belonged to the muggle military. Because of this he received both muggle and magical training in preparation for a career in the military.

When tensions between Britain and Germany began, some five years ago, Silas decided that he would join the military of the British Wizarding Community. It was a joke when he first arrived, little more than a hundred men strong and with less funding than even the combined janitorial staff for the Ministry. Immediately, Silas set about encouraging changes. Within a year he was a senior officer in the force and was working to bring everyone up to top shape.

As the funding began to trickle back into the force, Silas was instrumental in helping to form and run a commitee of the senior offices which would reform the force. Silas based this new military style off of the muggle army and was rewarded for his hard work with the leadership of the force that he had basically renewed and strengthened within the space of four years.
