Lesson One - Third Years Empty Lesson One - Third Years

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Tue Jun 12, 2012 5:44 am

Raven had what could only be described, as a wonderful holiday, she had killed so many people it was unreal, her necromancy magic had only grown stronger and she had even been able to squeeze in some time with baby Raven and her mother, Briony.

With a happy little smile, Raven sat at the front of her desk, and wondered if she was perhaps doing the scariest thing that she ever could towards her students, actually smiling.

Although she was sure it would soon be wiped of her face when the students, or lack of, arrived. Writing the lesson point on the board, Raven sighed lightly and waited for the class to begin;

'Garotting Gas.'

Lesson One - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Third Years

Dimitrius entered the classroom quickly, pausing when he saw the slight smile on his Professor's face. Raising an eyebrow, he continued on to his seat at a slight slower pace. He half-wondered what was up with that, before deciding that it was none of his business.

He took a seat in the middle and crossed his arms, looking up at the board to see what they would be learning. He racked his brain to see if he had heard of such a thing and came up empty. Shrugging to himself, he waited for class to begin.

Lesson One - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Third Years

As she approached the door to her potions class Annika noticed that Steve was again at his post as door 'guard'. Smiling she nodded her head and whispered, "I am so glad to see you my dear friend. Thank you for holding the door." Stifling a giggle, she entered the class room wishing again that Alexandra would be here. At least she had someone to work with when she was alive.

To her amazement the "Sweeney" was smiling, a sight she never thought she would ever see. It made her look very beautiful but slightly scary at the same time. This first class was definatly going to be one to remember.

Taking her seat she wrote down the title of today's lesson and waited for the others to arrive.

Raven got up and threw two gas masks to the students who were in her lesson, then tapping the board, the ingredients appeared there;

2 Runespoor Eggs
3 drops of Asp Venom
2 Porcupine Quills
2 teaspoons of powered aconite
1 frogs brain

Instructions;

1. Finely chop the runespoor eggs, make sure that they are diced into centimetre measurements or there about, add them to a base potion that you should have brought from home.
2. Place this on heat, making sure it is of a medium temperature.
3. Add the porcupine quills one at a time, making sure to rotate the potion as you do so, the potion should begin to give off some mild fumes, this is normal.
4. Make sure that you mash the frogs brain in the pestle and mortar, add this to the potion and wait until it turns a green colour.
5. Add the drops of asps venom all at once, making sure that the potion gives off the desired hiss afterwards, do not proceed until this has happened.
6. Turn down the heat of the potion and then add the teaspoons of powdered aconite, take off the heat and put into a bottle.

The fumes are what the gas masks are needed for, please ensure you have these on when step two is completed.

"Today we will be making Garotting Gas. It will knock you out if you breathe any in, so be sure that around step three people who are late take care not to breathe anything in. Begin."

Dimitrius caught the gas mask thrown to him and set it down on his desk. He retrieved all the ingredients he would need from the cabinet, and once he had his little set up, he put the gas mask on. He didn't need to forget about it and then pass out in the middle of making his potion, after all.

He added his base potion to the cauldron before beginning to chop up the Runespoor Eggs. Once they had been chopped to a length he liked, he added them to his cauldron. He put the cauldron on a medium temperature heat and added one porcupine quill. Rotating his potion, he added the other one. Crushing the frogs brain with a slight disgusted look on his face, he carefully added it to his potion and waited for it to turn a green color.

He added one drop of Asp Venom when it was green and he waited to hear the hiss before adding another. When that one hissed, he added the last one. He turned down the heat and added the two teaspoons of powdered aconite. Taking his potion off the heat, he spooned it into a bottle and corked it. Taking off his gas mask, he sighed and put his bottle on the Professor's desk.

He moved back to his own seat and cleaned up his mess, putting everything away before sitting down again and waiting for class to end.

When Annika realized the potion they were making today day was dangerous she got a little nervous. After all this wasn't her best subject and she didn't want to screw it up. She jumped as the gas mask flew at her, but managed to just grab a strap as it went by her ducked head.

Then gathering up all her items she placed them in order on her desk, re-read the instructions, put on the mask and began. She noticed that Dimitrius was ahead of her and feared that she would be in troubled if she didn't catch up.

With her nerves getting the best of her, she began working as quickly as she could, reading and re-reading the instructions and watching Dimitrius for clues as to what she should be doing.

At last her potion was done and she cleaned up her area, sat down and put her head on her arms trying not to cry. She was really sure that she had made a mistake somewhere and it frightened her.

Raven grinned to herself twistedly, she was expecting those students to be able to complete the potion first they were some of the most talented in her class after all, then again, maybe they were just the only competant members of the class.

While they had brewed Raven had taken her pocket watch out, smashed as it was, and was looking at in unblinkingly, her face straight until her eyes glanced sideways at the class, it was almost time for the lesson to end.

Standing up Raven glanced at the two potions the students had managed to finish. With a smirk she drew away.

"Ten points to Geschick and Verstand, as for the potions, keep them, use them when you might need to get yourself out of a tight spot. Class dismissed."
