Dumbstruck (Horst)
When Horst came home, he immediately knew something was wrong. Because of the wards around the Sollmann Manor, he had to apparate outside of his property. Then, like he did every night, he checked his wards. Surprisingly, he found somebody had tripped them. The person had tried to place them back, but it wasn't done quite perfectly. Though he knew somebody had been sneaking around the property, this was very worrying. Running across the grounds and into the house as quickly as possible, he yelled, "Selena! Where are you? Is everything alright? Roran, is he, is he safe?!?!"
There was not an immediate answer, and tears began to stream down his face. Running upstairs, he went to Roran's room. Slamming open the door, he accidentally woke up his sleeping son. "Oh, thank God you are alright Roran. I...I was so worried about you. Stay here, daddy needs to go and check on things." Horst said seriously, putting up his hand to let him know that he really needed to stay put.
Next, he opened the door to the master bedroom. The bed was empty, and all he could think was his wife, who he loved so much, was gone. "Selena, where are you?" he muttered to himself. Walking back downstairs, Horst searched for any signs of her. Then, he saw a note written very hastily.
Dear Horst,
I know that you are a good man, but I've become jealous while you are gone. You say that this woman Sofia is just a friend, but sometimes I feel as if you talk to her more than me. Yes, you take care of Roran, and make attempts to make me feel loved. I think we both know that for a long time though, that I haven't been in love with you. I think, that if you really thought about it, you might realize that you love Sofia, and not me anymore. I can't do this anymore Horst, I'm sorry. Take care of our baby for me, Roran will always be special to me, and a baby no matter how old he is. I hope you find happiness Horst, I really do, but don't expect me to come back. This is goodbye, my former love.
Your Wife (soon to be divorced wife),
Selena
After Horst read it once, he looked it over twice, and then a third time. Dropping it, dumbstruck, he trudged slowly up the stairs. The sobs were shaking his entire body, and tears were streaming down his face. It felt like a dagger had been plunged into his spine, stunning him, and another one thrust into his heart, causing him unbearable pain. How could she leave him, he loved her, not Sofia. Sofia was a friend, nothing more, Selena he had loved since a couple months after they had begun dating. Her not loving him back, was just unthinkable. They'd raised Roran together. Roran, he needed to be told.
Walking slowly up the stairs, he opened the door to his son's room. Not even making an attempt at hiding the tears, he laid down on his son's bed. "Roran, I-I don't know how to say this. But, your mother, my wife, our Selena, she's gone. She left us, son, and-and she's not coming back." Horst forced out, and then hugged his son to him as he cried.
His son was his support, the only thing he had left really. "I love you Roran, no matter what happens, I'm never going to leave you. Come on, you are sleeping with me in my bed tonight." he said, and brought his son to his room. Laying down, he hugged his son, and then tried to fall asleep. Though he knew he wouldn't be able to. "Selena, wherever you are, know that I love you. I will find you, even though you probably don't want me to." he whispered.
