Lesson Three - First Years

Briony had a lovely Christmas with her family, it was her first Christmas with her baby Raven and she had spoilt her a little bit too much, after all she had every right to when they had their first child, she wouldn't mind either she was sure.

Sighing a little she sat down behind her desk and wondered if the rest of the class had a pleasant Christmas too, then she rolled her eyes when she thought that one of them would have probably killed themselves or something over the break, they seemed to have more drama in their lives than muggle soaps operas.

Waiting for the class to begin Briony wrote the tasks on the board;

'Expelliarmus'

"Hello professor,"Melody said before sitting down.She glanced at the board.
Oh good I know this spell,Melody thought.

Veronica entered the room and sighed. She sat on one of the seats, looking at the board afterwards. It read 'Expelliarmus.' It was very basic, but it's still probably important, since Veronica doubted they would be learning this lesson if it weren't.

She looked around the classroom and seemed to have thought that Professor Romain rolled her eyes. Probably not, though. Veronica couldn't find any good reason for the professor to roll her eyes. Professor Romain was always in such a good mood.

Veronica took out her wand, since they might probably need it.

Briony looked over the classroom and tapped the rune on her desk, a cup of coffee appeared and she sipped it as she looked at the first year students, still very happy that she at least had some in her class that bothered to turn up.

"Good day to you girls, today as you know we are learning the spell Expelliarmus and this spell disarms your opponent, if you perform the spell right, and cast with accuracy it will send their wand, into your own."

Standing up, she faced the dummy in the center of the room and drew her wand, with a flick to the left, Briony barked; 'Expelliarmus' and the dummies wand flew into her own hand.

"Now you've seen how it works, you should pair up the two of you and take turns to perform the spell until you both are able to catch each others wands. Begin." she said, in a simple tone.

Melody turned to face Veronica since she was the only other student here really who else could Melody pair up with?

Veronica took her wand and stood up somewhere a bit far from Melody. She waved her wand, "Expelliarmus!"

Melody's wand flew out of her hand and she raced to retrieve it.
"Expelliarmus!"she said when she came back and faced Veronica again.

As Melody retrieved her wand and cast the spell, Veronica's wand instantly flew out of her hand. Luckily, she caught it while it was still in mid-air; "Expelliarmus!" she said.

She looked around to see if Melody's wand fell or not.

Briony was very pleased with the two first years and their contribution, she liked the way that they both worked together in order to practice the spell where her other students seemed to take their sweet time and didn't care about practising at all.

A small smile on her lips Briony nodded her head and gave a little clap when they both managed to cast the spell successfully, and before the end of the lesson as well.

"Well done both of you 50 points will go to Ravenclaw for your efforts, as class is over you may leave when you are ready." Briony nodded towards the door and sat back on her desk, very pleased indeed.
