Lesson Three - Third Years Empty Lesson Three - Third Years

Evangeline entered her classroom and crossed the room to her desk in total silence. She was thinking about the winter break they'd just had. The Irvine twins had taken her over to Ireland and shown her what snow was with something called a 'snowball fight'. It had been wet, it had been cold but, somehow, it had made her want to smile too.

Lesson Three - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Third Years

Marylin wandered into the lesson she was due to attend, she was feeling rather good about herself today, she was brewing that potion and it was due to be finished any time soon, and then she would be able to sell it on and gain some more money, it wasn't a bad little business she was beginning, to brew potions for a commission.

Sitting down at her desk she got out her parchment and her quill, ready to take notes and perform the practical aspect of the class when the rest of the class arrived and the lesson was begun by the professor. With a small sigh she wondered where Nicholas had gotten to.

Evangeline blinked at the student in front of her and she managed to give a rather small and shakey smile, the aftermath of playing with the twins was still affecting her and making her want more interaction with these interesting creatures called humans...

Walking to the board, she wrote down the recipe for the potion that they were to brew today and then turned to the class, merely waiting until they were all silent, her gaze falling on those who weren't until they were scared into hushing.

"Today we are looking at the blood replenishing potion. This is an extremely useful potion and one that you should try to memorise the recipie and ingredients for, As usual they are all set out on my desk, you may begin."

'redients:

3 Aconite flowers
2 Ashwinder eggs
12 Baneberries
2 Crocodile Hearts
1 Doxy egg
1 liter of Honeywater
3 sprigs of peppermint
6 drops of human blood
1/2 cup of Syrup of Hellebore
1 drop of Antimony.

Instructions

1) Place the liter of Honeywater in the cauldron and mix counterclockwise until bubbles begin to appear.
2) Mash 12 baneberries until paste and put them to the side to warm up by cauldron.
3) Crack two Ashwinder eggs and place in the cauldron shell and all. Mix clockwise until there are no signs of the shell any longer.
4) Add the first Crocodile Heart (Diced) and two tablespoons of the baneberries and let it boil.
5) When it turns a purple color, begin to mix it and let the heart begin to turn a grey-ish color before mixing the second heart in and repeat process.
6) Add three pieces of the peppermint and mix until the smell is released.
7) Add half the cup of Syrup and mix quickly until the whole process is thickening to the same thickness of blood.
8 ) To create the immediate cooling process while still boiling add the drop of Antimony and it will immediately turn blue.
9) Cut your finger, and allow exactly six drops of blood enter the cauldron.
10) It will turn a ruby red and close immediately.'

Lesson Three - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Third Years

Marylin nodded her head when she was told what potion they would be brewing today, she had already made this potion many times before and been successful, however with so many different recipies to follow she wondered if the one they would be learning today would differ from the recipies she used.

Gathering the ingredients from the Professors desk she set them on her own and swiftly worked through the recipie, placing the honeywater in her cauldron, continuing to stir counter clockwise until bubbles appeared on the surface. Then after mashing the 12 berries to a paste, Marylin was sure to leave them close to the cauldron to warm.

Cracking the ashwinder eggs, Marylin placed them in the cauldron and she stirred the mixture clockwise until there were no traces of shell left in the mixture. With a twisted smile she added the diced crocodile heart and two measures of baneberries, before waiting and letting the potion boil.

Then she continued to follow the recipie, the second handful of heart going into the mix once the other had turned into the proper shade of grey, repeating the process she then added the peppermint leaves and the syrup to the cauldron, making sure to mix the potion quickly as instructed.

Once that was done she added the antimony and watched the potion turn blue, gently pricking her finger with the tip of her sharp cutting knife, Marylin let six drops of blood enter the potion, which immediately turned red. Placing the lid over the potion, Marylin turned off the heat, her work, done.
