Going Back Home (open)

Humphrey walked onto the Hogwarts Express, his suitcase packed to the brim as always. Looking around, he found an empty compartment and put his suitcase up and out of the way. As of yet, he didn't know if anybody would be joining him for the train ride home. Pulling out a book, he stretched out across one of the seats.

Now he was reading a book called Eragon. It was about a farmboy who becomes a Dragon Rider. The story involved magic, sword fights, epic battles, and many other interesting things. Fantasy was his favorite genre because of the imagination involved in creating new worlds. Some of the things reminded him of stuff he found out about since joining the wizarding world, but others were completely original. Books were one of his favorite things Muggles contributed to society.

Hopefully somebody would join him. While he liked to read, it was better to spend time talking with friends. Looking over, he noticed somebody approaching his compartment.

"Hey Melody, how are you?" he asked her. He hadn't seen his Ravenclaw friend in a while. "Go right ahead. I was just hoping one of my friends would show up to sit with me." Humphrey admitted, smiling at her.

Setting his book down, he looked over at her. She seemed to be doing pretty well, looked like the same old Melody. "Got any big plans for this summer?"

She sat down."Nope no plans. Do you have any plans for the summer?"

"Well, I definitely want to get out and do some hiking. Maybe some rock climbing as well. Plus I always like to do some more painting over the summer, always bring my paint supplies with me when I explore. Don't have as much time as I would like during school. Also, have a couple books I want to read." Humphrey said, smiling at her. "Oh, and I might visit Senium at her grandpa's house if I can."

Looking over at her, he wondered how she'd been. "How have you been Melody, haven't seen you in a while? Nice to see you Jinxy." he told the cat, petting her a little bit.

Tabi made her way into one of the rooms and discovered that Melody and Humphrey was already in there. She was not really in the mood to talk to anyone, but she wanted the company.

No one had any clue what she was going through because she had not had the chance to talk to anyone about what was going on.

Tabi glanced around the room and went and sat by the window staring out it.

Humphrey's mouth dropped open when he saw Tabitha walk into his compartment. Of all the people to see, he hadn't expected her. She'd completely disappeared after her sister's death, and from what he'd heard she had taken it extremely hard.

Another reason he wouldn't expect to see her was because she'd always strongly disliked him. The first couple times he'd talked to her he tried to be nice, but it didn't always work.

"Hey Tabitha, how are you? I haven't seen you in ages. You okay?" he asked her. Just because they used to not get along didn't meant hey couldn't be friends now. He genuinely hoped that they could be.

Tabi was not really paying attention to what was going on in the cabin until she heard her name called she looked back and realized who was talking to her. She almost smirked to herself because there was a time when she could not stand to be in the same room as Humphrey.

"First off the name is TABI, Humphrey." Tabi spat, she always hated the name Tabitha.

"Second you tell me how you would feel if a part of you had died." Tabi knew it really was not his fault, but she was just mad at the world.

Humphrey was shocked the venom with which she spoke. She'd always been one to have a temper, but never like this. Tabi must have really been torn up by the loss of her twin. Nothing else would explain this kind of behavior from her.

"Fine, Tabi then. Where have you been? Haven't seen you for a couple years, you just kind of disappeared."He was very curious what had happened to her.

"I know exactly how it feels. It hurts like hell, and you feel more alone than you ever have before. I've lost my best friend as well as my parents, I understand what it's like to lose a part of me." he replied quietly, looking own at the floor. "Sorry, I really am. Guess I should have realized you wouldn't want to talk to me, you always hated me."

Tabi could not help but use her usual smirk, "Well I have been hiding and I guess it was working since you haven't seen me."

Tabi had only been back for a few days to talk to the headmistress but wanted to take the train home. She wanted to get caught up on things she had missed.

Tabi could not help but roll her eyes and she pulled her feel closer into her body,

"Losing a best friend is a lot different than losing a twin sister, she was a part of me we were like one." Tabi started to cry.

"I never hated you, I just wanted to hate you."

Humphrey couldn't help but smile a bit, same old Tabi. The smirk was such a Slytherin expression, just so her. "Hiding, huh, guess it was working. I definitely noticed you'd disappeared though. Thought maybe you'd left Hogwarts for good." he told her.

It would be nice having her back, another of the people who had gotten to know the first couple years here. There weren't that many left, just himself, Airen, Charlotte, and Haley. When she curled her feet up he realized that she was still hurting a lot from the loss of her twin, and he felt sorry for her.

"I remember, I always wondered how you two could be twins. You were so different, but you were close. Sorry, I don't know what it's like to have a twin. But I do understand how much it hurts to lose someone close to you." Humphrey said.

"Hmm, could have fooled me. Glad you don't though." Walking over to her, he put a hand on her shoulder. He missed Leshia a bit too, she was a great person. "Leshia was...a great girl, sorry for your loss." Humphrey didn't really know how to comfort her, but he would try a bit.

Tabi sighed and when Humphrey walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder she could not help but touch it and then pulled him down next to her and leaned on his shoulder.

"I have been doing my lessons at home, I thought it would be too hard to come back here with her gone. I was right it is very hard." Tabi continued to cry, she just needed this and Humphrey was the only one she new really that was there.

"We could talk to each other in our minds, she would always calm me down when it got tough she would talk me through things." Tabi smirked again."Before you ask we never cheated."

Tabi started the run her finger on Humphrey's leg, "I am a Slytherin and you are Gryffindor according to my father I am suppose to hate you." Tabi sighed again,

"He is the reason that Leshia is dead." Tabi whispered

Humphrey had honestly expected Tabi to push him away. He didn't expect her to actually accept a comforting gesture from him. When she rested her head on his shoulder he pulled her into a soft hug. She needed a friend right now, he could see that.

"That's good, at least you won't have to spend a lot of time trying to catch up." That thought made him sigh. "It's hard for me coming here too, Keiba's gone, as is Tessa, Parker, Pyxis, so many of my friends. But this place kind of feels like home to me, more than my aunt's house does." he explained to her. A few tears slid down his cheeks for his lost friends.

"I didn't know that, that's quite the gift." He thought about Tabi getting mad and chuckled a bit. "I always wondered how you calmed down so quickly sometimes." A couple of times she had gotten pretty heated, but all of a sudden started to calm down out of nowhere, now he knew why.

When he felt a finger on his leg he took her hand and placed it on her lap, then let go of it quickly. "Please don't do that, Tabi, it makes me a bit...uncomfortable." Humphrey said, blushing a bit. "Ah, the old Gryffindor-Slytherin rivalry, I see." She had come across as the pureblood Slytherin some of the time. "Probably wouldn't have liked the fact I'm a muggleborn either."

"That's horrible, I can't even imagine what that would be like." Now he understood why she'd left Hogwarts, it was just too painful for her.

Melody didn't really know what to do or say.She just stared out the window and tried not to ruin the moment.Jinxy meowed and looked at Tabi curiously.

Humphrey heard Jinxy meow, and realized that this probably wasn't the most fun for her. "Sorry, I know this isn't the happiest thing to be talking about Melody." he apologized.

Tabi had actually lost herself in the moment until Humphrey had grabbed her hand and removed it.

"Sorry I didn't realize I was doing it, just got lost in my thoughts." Tabi removed her head from his shoulder and then turned back towards the window and leaned her head against it and sighed.

""Remember that battle in the Great Hall that first year, we were able to fight thru our minds and almost made us a little more powerful." Tabi smirked a little. No matter how you sliced it she still did like power.

Tabi was so lost to her thoughts that she had forgotten that someone else was in the room until she heard the cat. Which of course reminded her that she had two cats now instead on just one to look after.

"Sorry you can go back talking to her if you want, I don't need all the attention." She commented when she heard him say something to Melody

Humphrey saw her get jerked back into reality, she really wasn't thinking about what she had been doing. He tried to forget about it, that was the best thing to do.

"It's alright Tabi, I understand. I have a girlfriend now, so that just made me a bit uncomfortable. No worries though." he told her, smiling wryly at her. "If you ever need to talk though, I'll be happy to listen. Maybe we can actually be friends." Humphrey said, teasing her.

"Yea, I remember when that happened. First I almost get my heart ripped out by Professor Smith because I upset Charlotte, then I see people running and screaming and getting hurt." he admitted, speaking quietly. That was the first time he'd seen his friends get hurt. "I got a couple good spells in, and I remember trying to attack people who were way out of my league. Now when there's danger I don't freeze anymore though, so that's a good thing." Power had never been something he'd wanted really, but he could see that Tabi did.

Pulling Jinxy up onto his lap, he started petting her. "Tabi, meet Jinxy, this is Melody's cat. I don't believe you've met either of them before." he introduced them. Jinxy made him think about getting his own pet someday, and he scratched him behind the ears. "Hey, you needed my attention for a little while, I haven't seen you for a couple years after all. Hmm, all we're missing is a Hufflepuff, then we'd have somebody from each house." Humphrey commented, noticing they had a Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw already.

Tabi smiled a little when he said he had a girlfriend and she could not help but sigh again her life was just down and she was not sure if she was ever going to be able to bring it out again.

"I am glad for you, who is the lucky girl?". Tabi tried to smile "I think I am still with Ivano but I haven't heard from him since Leshia's wake."

Tabi started to draw on the window on the steam she had placed there.

"So what other exciting adventures have I missed?"

Tabi turned to greet the cat, "Hello Lizzy, I have two cats at home myself."

Humphrey could see that Tabi was really struggling to turn things around. Coming back to Hogwarts was a good first step. He would do what he can to help her get things back on track again.

"Senium Nex, she's a third year. Well soon to be fourth year now, actually. Can't believe I'm going to be in sixth year." he said, laughing a little bit. "She's not the lucky one though, it's just me, I'm the one who's lucky to be with her." he told her. "Ah, Ivano, well I hope you can figure that out. If it doesn't work out with him you can always look for someone else." Humphrey said, trying to be optimistic for her.

He wondered what Tabi was going to draw on the window. When he was younger he used to do that, it was quite fun sometimes.

"Other adventures, let's see here. Well there was the tournament with Durmstrang. Pyxis, Victoria, Airen, and I all competed. Hogwarts ended up winning it. I had to duel this insanely creepy professor for it." he said, shivering a bit at the memory of it. "What else? Oh, I'm a werewolf now. Was bitten a few years ago, so being attacked was a bit of an adventure. I thought for sure I was going to be killed." Humphrey told her. "A few other things here and there, but those are some of the big ones."

He laughed a bit when she called the cat Lizzy when he'd just told her he was called Jinxy. "His name's Jinxy, not Lizzy. Do you by any chance have a Tabby cat?" he asked, trying to cheer her up with a bad joke.

When Humphrey said his girlfriend was Senium Nex, Tabi looked at him and smiled.

"She was in a dorm room with Leshia, Leshia really liked her." Tabi sighed as she thought about the things Leshia told her about Senium.

Tabi just sat and listened to his stories and was interested when he said he became a werewolf and the competitions he was in.

"Wow, I guess a lot of things have happened while I was gone."

Tabi sighed to herself when she got the cat's name wrong.

"Sorry about that, Lizzy is the name of the white cat I have at home. It was my sisters. I have a black cat named Misti."

Tabi looked over at Melody and smiled, "Its ok really. How are you?"

Humphrey smiled back at Tabi, she seemed to be happy he had someone. For a while he wasn't sure he would, nothing seemed to be working out. Things had turned out for the best though in that department, Senium was an amazing girl.

"Yea, Senium's a pretty great girl. She's a great dancer, even though she doesn't show people normally. One of the sweetest girls I know, beautiful, funny, smart...yea, I kind of like her." he admitted with a blush. "You'd like her, she's really nice."

When he told her that he was a werewolf Tabi seemed to become more interested. It was a bit of a shock to know that one of your friends turned into a monster once a month.

"Yea, a lot happened. A lot of the people we knew passed away in the war. Not many of the original first years left." he said sadly. "It's a bit weird turning into a monster once a month. As long as take my potion though, I can have a bit of fun with it. Having the extra strength is cool too." he explained.

He laughed a bit, it wasn't a big deal. "It's fine, you know his name now. I don't have any pets, but I want to get a golden lab when I'm older. More of a dog person myself." he replied, smiling.

"It's fine Melody, we're just catching up a bit." Humphrey told her. "You excited for the summer?" he asked her.

Tabi could not help but smile as he talked about his girlfriend. She could tell they were perfect together. She remembered when her face lite up when she would talk about Ivano. God she missed him.

"She sounds perfect for you, I am glad your happy."

Tabi looked at Humphrey when he called himself a monster,

"You are not a monster, my father is a monster. You can't help what you do and he can."

Tabi might have sounded a little more snappy at the comment, but she knew what a monster was and no matter what she used to think of Humphrey he was never a monster.

Tabi continued to pet the cat a little, such a precious creature, "I love cat's I want my animagas form to be a panther if I can."

Humphrey was really glad Senium was his girlfriend, without her, he wasn't sure what would have happened. At one point he had tried to kill himself before he'd gotten to know her. Now he wouldn't even dream of it. She had helped him in so many ways.

"Yea, she really is, thanks Tabi. I hope you and Ivano are able to work things out. Even though me and him never really got along, I think you two are good together." he told her with a smile.

"Sorry, I know I shouldn't say that." Humphrey said sheepishly. "It was so hard when I was first going through it, at one point I even tried to kill myself. I've improved a lot since then, don't hate myself as much any more." Those had been some of the hardest months of his life.

Having Tabi defend him like that made him grin a bit. He never knew that she'd actually liked him as a friend, he though she'd hated him. Turns out he was wrong about her, Tabi wasn't too bad after all.

"I like cats, but for some reason dogs have always been my favorite. Wouldn't mind having both though." he told her. "Wow, are you working on a panther animagus form already?" Humphrey asked, interested. "You know, I can turn into a Griffin. Took me four years to get it down, but I can do it whenever I want now. Flying is so much fun." he said happily, thinking about it.
