Settling in Empty Settling in

Post by Guest Sat Jan 07, 2012 5:07 am

Leisha was a little nervous about settling in at this new school. It would be the first time that she would not have to spend all the time seeing her sister. Don't get her wrong she loved her twin sister but she was always better than she was, but she was her sister and she would defend her at all costs.

Lesiha was surprised when the hat put her in Ravenclaw everyone in her family had always been in Slytherin, but maybe there was something about her only the hat would know.

She found it strange that no one else was in the dorm rooms at the moment but she hoped that would change she had a roommate for so long she was not sure if she could handle it being this quiet, but then maybe she would come to enjoyed it.

((OOC: The Misspelt words when she is talking are on purpose, its her accent))

Salina's heels made an echoing 'clip clop' sound as she stormed up the staircase into her dorm. She threw the door open with a bang, before freezing as she spied a girl sitting in the dorm room. She straightened up and held her head high, letting her hand rest on her hip.
She shut the door with her other hand and walked over to her bed, seating herself down on it and pulling off her heels so she could toss them into her open trunk. She looked over at the girl, and found herself yet again wondering how on earth she'd gotten into Ravenclaw. A girl on the train had told her all about the houses, and she'd fancied herself a Slytherin. Heck! She hated school, how could she be in the braniac's house. Deciding to introduce herself, she turned to the girl.
"'Allo. My name's Salina, Salina Girard," Salina said in a heavy french accent, but you could still make out the pompous tone. "You british peeple don't know my name, but i'll have you know that my family is one of the last pure-blooded French families," Salina's gaze then turned from proud of herself to scornful.
"What ees your name?"

Leshia was not sure how to take this new girl that walked into the room acting like she was better than I was. Granted I could care less about her attitude I decided to play over her and see where that got me.

"Hello Salina it is nice to met you, of course I have heard of your family. You father is Matthieu Girard is he not? I recall my father mention the name a time or too, although I cannot recall what he does."

Leshia felt a little smug in her reaction, it felt more like the attitude her sister would have taken, but she felt like this girl would try to push her around and she was not going to start the year off like that. She may be shy for the most part, but she was not a door mat.

Salina smirked at this girl, and began to look her up and down. She was thin, and had strawberry blonde hair, and Salina begrudgingly admitted to herself that she was very pretty. "Ah, eet is a pleasure to meet someone zat 'as heard of my family in zis country," Salina already liked this girl, for she appreciated a girl with some sass. "Again, I ask what eez your name?" Salina could definitely see herself being acquainted with this girl, and somewhere within her she felt a warm feeling, and a word she had never thought of before when consulting other people.
Perhaps, this girl could be Salina's first, real friend.

"Sorry, I guess that would be important we don't wear name tags. Leshia..Leshia Prewett."

Leisha continued to unpack her things thinking that maybe this girl and her could get along.

"So what classes are you signed up for this term?" Leshia asked wondering how many they would have together.

The last name Prewett rang a bell, and Salina felt the ghost of a true smile on her face, before she let it drop and answered Leshia's question. "Potions, Defence against the Dark arts, Transfiguration et Charms. I might sign up for Care for Magical Creatures, zough only to please ma sœur, Jacqueline. She teeches zat class, vou know?" Salina said to Leshia, watching as she un-packed her stuff.
Salina also bent over and began shifting through her clothes and making piles on her beds, when she pulled out a watermelon pink dress with one strap. It was magnificent, with silver sparkles all over it that were charmed to swirl and move around across the dress, though to the muggle eye they stayed put. The dress was skin tight up until the waist, were it fell loosely down to the knees. Salina laid it out on her bed neatly and located the silver sandals that went along with the dress.
Salina looked over at Leshia and felt a surge of warmth and friendship that she had only ever felt for her twin Corinne. "Do vou 'ave any seesters or bruthers, Leshia?" Salina asked.

Leshia watched as she was pulling out her clothes and got a little lost when she pulled out a beautiful dress.

Leshia walked over to her bed to get a closer look at the dress. " I believe that is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen." Leshia just smiled. She was never one to ever wear things that flashy, but that didn't mean she didn't like the way they looked.

Leshia walked back over to her bed and finished putting everything away then sat up on the bed and thought about how to answer Salina's question.

"Well as for my classes I have potions, charms, herbology, and muggle studies. But I have been thinking about taking transfiguration too. But just not sure." Leshia reached over to her night stand and took a little drink of her pumpkin juice that she had sitting there.

"Now as for siblings I have a younger brother who will start her in a couple of years and then I have a twin sister that is somewhere under the black lake..thank god with the rest of the Slytherins. How about you?? Do you have any siblings?

Leshia complimented one of Salina's favourite dresses, which made her smile warmly and an idea flow into her head. She watched as Leshia's strawberry blonde hair bounced whilst she made her way back over to her own bed, and Salina's smile grew.
Salina was surprised when she felt disappointment that they only had 2 classes together, but then Salina was not going to take up any more classes, for she despised learning and school in itself, though the thought of living at Hogwart's seemed enjoyable when you added Leshia to the mix.
Her mouth dropped open as Leshia said her siblings, and a little giggle left her lips. "I also 'ave a tween seester, who is as you put it, 'somewhere under the black lake', I also 'ave a younger bruther but in addition, I 'ave an elder sœur- I mean seester," Salina smiled, and for the first time in her life felt accepted for who she was on the inside, and not just for her last name. She felt like a different person with Leshia, like she didn't have to constantly be out to impress, or brag about her families fame and riches.
"Leshia, I 'ave no need of zis dress," Salina said, bubbling with excitement as she motioned to the dress Leshia had been admiring. "Be a dear, et take eet off of mine 'ands, oui?" Salina picked up the dress and sandals, before walking over to Leshie and laying it out on her bed.
"Besides, I theenk zat zis colour," she pointed at the water melon pink. "Would go very well on you! Go try eet on!" Salina squealed.

Leshia was never one to refuse something that was given too her but was she sure that the dress would look good on her. "I have never been one to wear dress so fancy before, usually I left that up to my sister. She was always the one who like to put on a show." Leshia went to put on the dress, and as she was she talked about her siblings.

"We both come from a high respecting family and I was wondering do you get along with your twin, or is she one to push you aside to be in the front of everything?" Leshia asked as she came out of the bathroom wearing the clothes.

"Are you sure I look ok in this?" Leshia looked at herself unsure at the moment.

Salina waited for Leshia to change and listened to her talk about herself and her twin. "She tends to catch boys attention more than me, though I always make her feel as if im the one they're looking at," Salina sounded ashamed of herself as she pursed her lips. "Everyone has always preferred her to me, save for my maman, but she only cares for me beecuz I wear clothes zat she sees as 'fashionable'," Salina said sourly. "So, in a way, I am sort of left in zee dust behind mine sœur- seester,"
Leshia exited the bathroom, and Salina gasped. Her mouth dropped. Leshia looked stunning, the dress fit her perfectly and complimented her thin body, and most of all her hair. She was so beautiful that Salina felt jealous, but proud. Leshia expressed her doubt, but Salina clucked her tongue. "Nonsense, you look so magnifique!" Salina pranced over to her and began gushing and complimenting her in french. "Tu belle!" She finished with, before prancing back to her bed and yet again digging through her trunk until she located a rose clip, with arose that changed shades of pink, and also a silver heart locket.
She rushed back over to Leshia and slid the rose into her hair, before putting the locket around the girls neck and standing back to admire her work. "So beautiful! Magnifique! Wonderful! Oh you will 'ave zee boys drooling all over you with zis! You look so, belle! Belle, belle, belle!" Salina was just about jumping with joy. She had never felt this happy before, but it was most likely what it felt like to be generous, and to have a friend. Salina suddenly went quiet and looked down at her feet.

Leshia was excited to make her new friend excited. Her own sister had not gotten this excited with her in a very long time it kind of made her feel special.

"Well that another thing we have in common my mother tends to look at me more, but Tabi has always been first and foremost." While Leshia was ranting on she wasn't really paying attention to anything but her reflection in the mirror then she glanced over at Salina and noticed her glance down at her feet.

Leshia turned around at Salina " Hay whats the matter..did I say something wrong?"

"No!" Salina gasped at once, her head zipping back up and she shook it in the negative. "Of course not, it's just the thing is," Salina had never been so embarrassed, and she blushed lightly, pursing her lips. "I've never had a friend before- I mean i've had friends but they were fake. I've never had a real friend before," Salina sighed, and looked down shamefully.

Leshia couldn't help but walk over to Salina and place her into a hug.

"Hay its nothing to be ashamed about, to be honest it seems we are to much alike. I also had friends that were fake too. They just wanted to be with me because of my family or my sister." Leshia said with a smile.

Leshia pulled away from Salina. "Give me a second to get out of this beautiful dress and then we can take some time to get to know each other."

Leshia went back into the bathroom and changed back into her sweats and t shirts and walked back over the sit on the edge of her bed.

"Just think we will probably have to be the best of friends, If for any reasons to protect ourselves from those Slytherin sisters of ours." Leshia could not help but laugh,

"What do you think about that?"

Salina was stunned when she was pulled into a hug. She hadn't been hugged since she was...well she couldn't remember, and it felt nice and comforting. She hugged Leshia back, a huge smile on her face as Leshia told her it was alright and she'd never had a real friend either. "We're too similar," Salina laughed in agreement with her comment.
Leshia pulled away and went off to get changed. Salina waited patiently and Leshia was done quickly so the two could resume talking. Salina wandered over to Leshia and sat down next to her on the end of Leshia's bed. "Just think we will probably have to be the best of friends, If for any reasons to protect ourselves from those Slytherin sisters of ours."Leshia laughed so hard her sides hurt, but she still felt that warmth inside of her when Leshia had said they would be the best of friends.
When asked what she thought about that, Salina grinned. She hadn't felt this happy in a long time. "I theenk zat is a magnifique idea!" Proclaimed Salina. "I am so 'appy to be in Ravenclaw now, for when zat hat first put moi in it, I was shocked. I do not like school, I am not smart, in fact I hate ze school! Zis is what I wish to ask you, Leshia, why would zee 'at put me in Ravenclaw, when eet is not ze house zat describes mine personality?" Salina asked, eyebrows knitted together in confusion.

"I thought about the same thing when the hat put me in Ravenclaw, but I believe that the hat knows more about us on the inside than we realize." Leshia thought.

"I was raised to believe that there was not any other house than Slytherin so I firmly believed that is where the hat was going to put me, boy was I surprised that it put me here. But I guess it doesn't always go for your family background, it truly looks on the person you are on the inside." Leshia said proudly thinking maybe she could convince herself of that.

"Does it bother you that you were not places in Slytherin, I know it worries me what my parents will think.?" Leshia asked.

Salina listened to what Leshia said with interest, and nodded in agreement the whole while, before worrying her lip. She had forgotten about her parents- they would murder her, for her Maman had grown up in England (which was also part of the reason why they moved to London) and gone to Hogwart's, and all 6 of her family members had been in Slytherin, and her mother had always bad mouthed every other house, especially Ravenclaw for they had beaten Slytherin in the house cup one year, which was most displeasing to her Maman.
"Zut!" Salina wailed, clapping a hand to her forehead. "Zough I am all for being a Ravenclaw, I had not thought of mine Maman," Salina was shaking her head with worry, her Maman was going to have a field day on her, and she would become the 'nuisance' child, like her older sœur, Jaqui. Ever since Jaqui had been a child and defied her parents beliefs, her parents had hardly spoken to her.
"Oh lá lá lá lá lá lá lá," Salina buried her head in her hands. "Maman va me tuer. Oh, elle va me haïr!" Salina began to pace and mutter her worries in French, her hands clutching at her hair as she yanked at it. What was she going to do? Her mother would disown her! She wouldn't talk to her! She'd hate her, and though her mother rarely showed affection towards her, Salina still loved her.

Leshia just listened to her new friend and listened to her mutter something in French.

"Oh please if I am not gona let my father kill me, I am sure not gona let your mama kill you." Once again Leshia felt like she needs to hug this girl but she seemed a little timid last time so she refrained.

"Between me and you we will get through all those howlers and anything else they will send, trust me" Leshia said with confidence.

"So lets not worry about what are parents are going to do, lets worry about anything else..How about so food?"

Salina wasn't overly comforted by Leshia's words, but she pushed them to the back of her mind to dwell on later. She would most likely receive a letter from her parents today asking what house she was in. She dreaded that moment, but she did not allow it to dampen her spirits, and instead smiled weakly at Leshia.
"I hope so. Im dreading my mother's howler, zough most won't understand what she speeks. Even zose of you who can speak my magnifique language, you will struggle to understand eet. Maman speeks quickly," Salina grinned.

"Food?" Salina cocked her head to the side in confusion. "I am starving. Ees eet almost dinner time?" She asked, getting up and checking in the mirror that she looked alright. Her grey socks were up to just below her knees, with blue trimming on the edges, her black heels went well with her grey skirt that she had cheekily shortened so that it was an inch above her knees, but everything else looked like other people, though her white button-up shirt was far to tight for her. "I look decent," she muttered to herself, before turning back to Leshia and pursing her lips.

"I know a few spells zat I learnt at Uresla. Zat is a school for beginners, some people go zere to learn before zey attent actual school. It begins when you are 7, and ends when you are 10. Could I try zem on your uniform?" Salina asked, pulling her best puppy dog eyes.

Leshia thought about it when Salina wanted to preform some simple spells on her uniform looking at herself in the mirror Leshia said "I really do not see any reason not too, give it your best shot."

Leshia was a little nervous about what was going to happen so she closed her eyes, but kept peeking through slit eyes.

Leshia knew many basic grooming spells but preferred to do things by hand or lets say the muggle way.

Salina's smile widened as Leshia gave her approval, and so her hand went straight into the pocket of her Ravenclaw robes and she pulled out her wand. She danced over to her trunk and bent down to grab a piece of parchment with a list of spells that she had learnt at Uresla. She found the section labeled: Fashion and located the spells her Maman had used on her uniform. Salina stood in front of Leshia and pointed her wand at the girls skirt. "Subtrahe Inch," she murmured, and the skirt of Leshia's uniform shortened to an inch above her knee, just like Salina's own.

Salina felt a feeling of accomplishment, and suddenly felt as if perhaps she was supposed to be in Ravenclaw, if she could perform that spell with relative ease- though they had practised it a lot at Uresla on each other's skirts. She looked at the 2nd spell out of 3 she wished to use and pursed her lips. This one was hard, and she had only managed to do it 3 times at Uresla, failing 5 times. "Concrispus," Salina said, after twirling her wand above Leshia's hair. A few hairs curled up the top, so Salina moved her wand lower down and repeated the motions and spell from before, before stepping back and smirking at her achievement of curling Leshia's hair.

"Just one more, and zen eet ees done," Salina said to Leshia, noticing her eyes peeking open so she quickly slid them shut. "No peeking, ma amie," said Salina with a giggle. She looked down at the last spell, the one that no matter how many times she attempted always failed. She recalled exactly how her Maman had performed the spell on her, and how she had pronounced it. This was no ordinary fashion spell- but a special one that only the French knew of, which is why Leshia was very lucky to have Salina speak of it near her.

"Cras interdum," Salina said in the soft tone that was needed for this spell as she flicked her wand up, then spiraled it downwards. Instantly, Leshia's eyelashes became thicker and longer, framing her eyes beautifully as her lips turned a glossy pink, and her hair looked as soft as a brand new teddy bear. All of her features became sharper and more in focus, every tiny freckle on her face became more pronounced and beautiful, and her skin smoother. It was a special spell, for it made one's every feature more beautiful, but not in a majorly altering way, like one would become skinny or have more curves, just the features that were already there.

The spell could only be used once a month, for over-use would damage one's body, and they would slowly shrivel up and die the ugliest creature on earth.

"You can open your eyes, now," Salina said in a stunned tone. The spell had worked, and Leshia looked even more beautiful that before. Of course, a simple glamour charm could've done something similar, but the french spell was just that tid bit better. "You look magnifique!" Salina squealed and jumped around. "The spell lasts for 24 hours, so over the hours your features will very, very slowly return to their normal state, so that people will not be stunned when one moment you are so beautiful, and the next your just... beautiful in your case," Salina laughed, before pulling her friend into a hug. She was so proud of her work.

Leshia felt every spell that Salina placed on her. When she felt her skirt shorten a bit she thought she might die. She had always worn long skirts, she just hated her legs. Her hair felt really funny too as she spelled that one too.

The one that surprised her the most was the spell she used on her eyelashes. She could just feel them grow longer and her eye lids

Leshia slowly looked at herself in the mirror and her first reaction was "Oh My God, I don't even look like myself." Leshia kept turning in circles trying to look at every part of her, if she would have been thinking she could have just conjured another mirror but it was more exciting to try and see it.

"Oh Thank you, Thank you." Leshia just hugged her back after she had hugged her.

"I have never thought of myself as beautiful, it was always my sisters job to be that way. She is going to flip when she sees this."

Leshia could not help but keep twirling around and around. She was about making herself dizzy.

"How much longer until Dinner, I cannot wait to see the look on her face?"

Salina was worried for a moment that Leshia would not appreciate her work, for she began to examine herself in the mirror with scrutinizing eyes, but that was before she hugged her back. Being thanked for doing something nice felt good, better than being rude to people and making herself prettier than them.
"I have never thought of myself as beautiful, it was always my sisters job to be that way. She is going to flip when she sees this." Leshia exclaimed, and Salina smiled at her new best friend.
"Oh, she will, and Corinne will spaz. She 'as always been better zan me at zee spells," said Salina in a giddy tone as she clapped her hands.
Salina watched as Leshia twirled around in front of the mirror and was most proud of her work. At Leshia's question of how long until dinner, Salina shrugged. "I theenk zat it must be soon," said Salina. "What time ees dinner at?" Salina suddenly asked, her eyebrows knitted together in a frown.

Leshia finally stop twirling around and said " I believe that dinner is around 5pm or so, I guess I didn't even pay attention I have been following everyone else."

Leshia walked over and placed the books that she had on her bed and then something just hit her.

"Oh my I almost forgot. I was down by the black lake earlier after potions because I was a little upset with my sister of something she had done to me. While I was there I met a girl named Charlotte, apparently your sister has not made a very good impression on her"

With all of her books put away she slide her wand into a concealed ares of her skirt and was ready to go.

"So are you ready to hit the great hall with our heads held high?"

At the mention that dinner was around 5, Salina twirled around and walked over to her bedside table, pulling open the drawer and attempting to locate her watch. She knew she'd un-packed it earlier.

"Oh my I almost forgot. I was down by the black lake earlier after potions because I was a little upset with my sister of something she had done to me. While I was there I met a girl named Charlotte, apparently your sister has not made a very good impression on her." Said Charlotte, and Salina whirled around, already worried. Her sister could be a cold-hearted monster around new people, especially when she was in an argument.

"Zut. Zat seester of mine will get moi een a lot of trouble one day," Salina sighed. "I will talk to her later about being nice to zee roommates of hers," said Salina, muttering about her sister in French.

"So are you ready to hit the great hall with our heads held high?" Leshia asked as Salina located her watch. She saw it was almost dinner time, and slid her drawer shut with her hip. "I was born ready," Salina said in her best american accent, grinning widely.

"Lets show zem zat zee Ravenclaw know 'ow to party, just give me a second," Salina quickly turned to the mirror, and pulled her hair back with a clip so that her fringe was out of her face but her hair was still down.

Salina walked over to Leshia and hooked her arm through hers, before proceeding to drag her out of the girls dorm.
