Lesson Three (First Years) - Page 2 Empty Re: Lesson Three (First Years)

Post by Charlotte Smith Wed Jan 11, 2012 7:17 pm

Charlotte happily sat down next to Airen when he asked her to, it was nice to be by him again in lessons, scribbling down the notes that Uncle Richie asked her too she set down her quill and took out her wand from her robes pocket.

I'm going to get this horribly wrong. I just know it. She thought.

Taking in a deep breath she pointed her wand at the match sticks and bit her lip, seeing that everyone around her was makinf mistakes she wouldn't feel so bad if she did, so, she quickly commanded:

"Butain."

Charlotte whacked a hand to her forehead, she was such a dummy, she forgot to actually MOVE her wand when she said it, so, completing the movements flicking her wand sharply down to finish she announced:

"Butain."

Growling this time when it didn't work she jabbed the sticks with a finger accusingly, glaring at them as if it was their fault they hadn't moved, pouting slightly she checked the correct pronunciation and she nodded happily, realising her mistake now and she completed the movements once more with her wand before stating:

"Botain!"

With a large smile she saw the matches come together into a stick insect but there was no way she wanted it to touch her, so she set up a little wall of parchment around it so it wouldn't escape and smiled at Airen, who had also managed the transfiguration.

"We did it!" she said happily

(OOC: Real life reason, choosing a school Razz)

Darren sprinted into class, and saw that he was already late. The headmistress's husband. Not good. He bowed and apologized for being late, and started inching to the back of the classroom.

Alice was groaning as much of the class was getting the incantation correct. At least the late Slytherin boy looked to be having a more difficult time. She sighed and twirled her wand, pointing it downwards. With a firm "Boe-tain" she watched in excitement as the sticks began to glow and she saw them come together to form a stick bug.

Alice was so excited she jumped up from her seat, with her hands in the air, letting out an excited yelp.

Tess turned to see her friend getting it right and she smiled even wider.

"Good job" she said and saw that the two bugs were looking at one another. She wished she knew how it could turn back into matches once more, she greatly disliked bugs, and she didn't care who knew it.

"I hate bugs" she murmured to Alice "At least it wasn't a spider, I hate arachnids"

Tabi was starting to get really frustrated that she could not do it, she thought she was saying do doing what she was suppose to, but as she looked around she noticed a lot of the class was getting it done.

Tabi heard a little over excited noise from the behind her. She looked and noticed it was the Alice girl. Geez that girl just knows how to get on her last nerve.

"I really do not think the whole class needed to be envolved in your excitement. The rest of it are trying to get it done." Tabi just glared at her

Tabi turned back to the sticks said the correct spell and movemnet finally and the walking stick appeared on her desk.

Maybe she was just not trying the first few time.

"Don't worry about being late, when I came here I was always late. I've only just got my head around it all." He nodded at that, having noticed how many other late students he'd seen in the rest of his classes which comforted him a bit to know he wasn't the only one who got lost or underestimated the time it would take to get to class.

He listened polity as she talked on, about what she thought of bugs, random facts about them coming to mind. "But then, I am weird. I race owls on my broom to practice flying, you don't get much weirder than that," He honestly had no clue what to consider 'weird' or not, his whole world having changed so drastically. From the little he knew, it really didn't sound odd at all, fun actually if one knew how to fly properly.

"So, I don't think I know your last name, are you a half-blood... or?" He paused a bit at her question which allowed the bug to get far too close to climbing into his shirt. From the little he knew, being in this house as he was was pretty uncommon, and he'd gotten called some name he didn't understand because of it. She seemed nice enough though and hoped it'd be nothing to worry about. He watched as she moved the stick bug back to his hand and spoke quietly. "Emery is a muggle name, I'm muggleborn."

Lesson Three (First Years) - Page 2 Empty Re: Lesson Three (First Years)

Post by Guest Thu Jan 12, 2012 1:31 pm

Pxyis looked up as the Gryffindor Alice let out a yelp of excitement as she got it right, and Pxyis grinned and called out, "Congrats." She was in a very good mood, especially after hanging our with Parker, he was a nice boy and it was good to have a boy that was her friend for once, other than just purely girls. When she heard Tabi's comment, her mouth dropped open and she started to think Tabi was no better than Corinne in nastiness.

"What is your problem Tabi?" She called out. "First Potions, now Transfiguration? Give her a break," Pxyis snapped at her, before turning back to Parker. She just couldn't stand people that were mean just for the sake of being mean.

"Emery is a muggle name, I'm muggleborn." Parker said in a cautious tone, as if he was scared of her response. She realised that the other Slytherin's would probably be giving him a hard time- and she was also surprised. She had never heard of a muggleborn in Slytherin before, but she didn't really care. "Oh, cool," Pxyis said in a casual tone. "My best friend's are muggle, so don't worry about me caring about your blood status, though i'd watch out for Corinne," Pxyis pointed out at the French girl.

"Some in the Wizarding World, think that blood status is important," Pxyis snorted at the idea. "I for one am Pureblood, and most Pureblood's are under the impression that they're the best. Half-blood's are treated fine, but the Pureblood's still consider themselves superior. To the judgemental Pureblood, like Corinne, the kingdom of blood status is as such," she wanted to warn Parker, so he wasn't offended if anyone started picking on him. "From top to bottom; Pureblood, Half-blood, Muggleborn or to them, Mudblood- i'll explain that later, and then muggle's at the bottom. Don't worry about that though, I don't think that. It's stupid in my opinion, why should blood purity even factor into the equation?" Pxyis shook her head as if she couldn't understand it at all.

"Mudblood, is what some of these Pureblood's call Muggleborns. They think, because you come from muggle parents, your blood is dirty. If anyone calls you that, let me know and i'll deal with them," Pxyis cracked her knuckles menacingly, but grinning to let him know she was joking.

He looked between Pxyis and the girls she'd talked too, he raising his eyebrows a bit at the way she defended Alice.

When she'd turned back to him he was worried, but immediately lightened when she said she didn't care. He didn't understand the whole blood-status thing. If you were a wizard you were a wizard, it's not like you had control over who your parents were anyways.

Though I'd watch out for Corinne." He looked over to where Pxyis pointed. He kept his eyes on her as Pxyis spoke about the supposed ranking of blood-status. There was that word again, 'Mudblood.' He knew it couldn't have been good the moment he heard it.

"They think, because you come from muggle parents, your blood is dirty. If anyone calls you that, let me know and i'll deal with them." He looked back down to the bug on his hand, frowning, letting it crawl back onto Pxyis' book.

"I wondered what it meant. I've already been called it."

Pxyis watched as he let the bug crawl back onto her textbook and turned to him with a smile, but seeing his features schooled into thoughtfulness and a frown. She wondered what was wrong and hoped that he would not say- "I wondered what it meant. I've already been called it." He said the words Pxyis hadn't wanted to hear and she looked around in shock.

"Ugh. Just ignore them, those people are worthless, Parker. People who believe in that Blood Purity nonsense are just idiots. Might I inquire who called you such a horrific name?" Pxyis asked, staring down at the stick bug as it wandered off of her book and towards the edge of her desk. She picked it up and placed it back on her book.

He looked up at her, a bit surprised at how shocked and disgusted she looked. Was it really that vile a name to be called? Sure it was hurtful and sounded mean, but apparently it was more then that.

He gave a small shrug, it was just some kids from the train, and one time when he was studying in the library. "No one that matters. I honestly think I was more bothered when I didn't know what it had meant. It's rather stupid."

Tabi noticed Pxyis congratulate Alice and then she turned on Tabi

"What is your problem Tabi?" She called out. "First Potions, now Transfiguration? Give her a break,"

"Whats my problems whats your problem, all I want is quiet, and people not to ask dumb questions. Whats wrong with that?" Tabi turned around as said to Pxyis

After Tabi said that she turned back to her walking stick in time to stop it from walking off the desk.

Richard, having watched a lot of his class either fail to do the transfiguration completely or having done it after a few attempts, frowned a little bit. Of course, as with every class there were those who treated it as if it was a chance to have a conversation. Pointing his wand, Richard frowned a little,

"Mr Emery." he called out firmly, to get the attention of the male slytherin, "I do not recall setting an assignment for the class to talk idly. Five points from Slytherin for talking in class. Don't let it happen again."

Turning to the class as a whole, Richard amplified his hands again and clapped to let a loud sound stop all conversation. When everyone was quiet, Richard gestured to the pile of matches on his desk,

"If you are still having trouble with the transfiguration then it is best if you go back to basics." he informed them clearly, "Visualise. Do not look at what the matchs look like now. Similarly, thinking of the stick insect is not the key either. You must think of the matches, the process of them transfiguring into the stick insect and then the stick insect itself. Try it again."

With that, he waved his wand, reverting all of their attempts back into piles of matches,

"All of you."

Tabi kind of thought it was funny that the Emery kis got in trouble instead of her, maybe the teacher didn't hear her. Thats ok the Emery kid lost enough points for Slytherin.

"Visualise. Do not look at what the matchs look like now. Similarly, thinking of the stick insect is not the key either. You must think of the matches, the process of them transfiguring into the stick insect and then the stick insect itself. Try it again." Tabi heard Professor Romain state.

Watching the walking stick fall back into a pile of matchsticks she internaly groan at the thought of having to do it all again. She knew she could do it this time for she had just final done it.

Tabi looked at her pile of matchsticks took out her wand and with a clockwise turn of her wrist and a flick saying the incantation "Boe-Tain" her matchsticks appeared into a walking stick. She was happy that it happened the first time, although she didn't need to share her excitement with the class.

Upon hearing his name called out, he looked up at the teacher, paling at being pointed out. Having the points taken away he groaned quietly and slumped in his seat looking down. He wasn't the only one talking, why did it have to be him? He'd lost points for his house which surely would upset the other Slytherins and he really didn't think being on the teachers bad side was at all good.

He startled a bit at the loud clap, looking back up at the teacher as he spoke.Visualise.

He looked down at his desk to see the little pieces of confetti on his desk transform back into matches scattered on his desk. He sat back upright and pushed themback together to a small pile. He just had to visualise and say the word right. He hoped he could do it right this time.

She closed her eyes and began to do as he said. She imagined the swishing movement, the transformation occurring and once she was ready, she opened her eyes. Those matches were taunting her, wanting her to do wrong, but she couldn't.

"Boe-tain" she said and waved her wand just like it was said.

She then saw it move around and she was happy, for she was now getting the hang of this.

Obediently, Airen did the same process again. He made a clockwise turn. Making sure that he flicked his wand downward.

"Boetain," he said. the sticks seemed to turn to liquid before melding together to make the shape of the stick insect. It then solidified and the stick insect came to life. It walked around on the desk. It's body moving slowly so that it could 'blend' with its surroundings.

Airen watched the insect move around on the desk. He was confused why the professor made them do it again, but he knew better than to complain.

Post by Charlotte Smith Mon Jan 16, 2012 7:44 pm

Charlotte pouted slightly as she watched her stick insect turn back into matches, she knew that it was because Uncle Richard had gotten in a mood with the people who had been talking and then had decided that the whole class needed to be whipped into shape.

Deciding that she might as well do what he had said Charlotte took out her wand and focused on the changing of the elements so that the transformation might be more successful this time around.

Slowly she closed her eyes and muttered:

"Boetain."

Moving her wand in the correct movements, a clockwise turn not forgetting the flick downwards Charlotte watched the matches transfigure once again into the stick insect, her paper fortress still intact, and she smiled broadly at Airen.

"We did it!" she whispered happily.
