The Doctor stood up from the middle of the Teachers Table and raised his hands for silence. As a lead for the chattering students to follow, the musicians tuning exercises stopped to give The Doctor the silence that he asked for. Looking out over her assembled students, the Highmaster of the Durmstrang Institute could not help but be proud.

His students had made it through a year of hard learning and experience. They had been subjected to teachers who's sole purpose at the Institute was to be as terrible as possible. Not so that the students would be mentally or physically scarred, but so that when they left the halls of his school in a few days time they would know what to expect. They would know what to expect from the world in which they lived. A world at war.

After the silence of the crowd was assured, The Doctor smiled faintly at his assembled students and spoke,

"My dear students..." he began quietly, his voice carrying to everyone in the hall regardless, "It has been a long year for you all. This I know."

He waved an arm at the teachers sat along the table,

"Your teachers have filled your eager minds with knowledge and you have faithfully absorbed what you could." he congratulated them before his face became stony. It wasn't a glare that he sent the students but rather a cold stare that spoke of things to come, "Beware students... some of you will not return to our fair school next year."

The Doctor looked out over the sea of innocent faces and was once again reminded of his painful duty,

"Outside these walls the world stands on the edge of oblivion!" he declared forcefully, not raising his voice at all but emphasising his point massively, "The world outside these walls is one set to burst into the vibrant colours and sounds of war..."

He nodded and the band began to play lightly in the corner as he finished his speech and stepped away from the table,

"Enjoy this night of innocence my students!"

Viktor yawned a little bit as he walked into the hall with his brother, Konig, by his side. Konig shot his brother a glance,

"You shouldn't be tired brother." he teased lightly, "You've got a full night ahead of you and you're already tired now... tut tut. What does that say about your skills in battle?"

Having gotten over their differences, the twins were now stronger friends than ever so Viktor took the joke as it was intended and punched his brother lightly on the arm,

"Why don't you take your wand out and find out brother?" he teased back, "Or does all that mind-spell nonsense weaken your magic or some such rot?"

Konig and Viktor laughed together before looking at each other again. Konig straightened his brother's black tie as Viktor did the same with his brother's. They grinned at each other,

"Handsome!"

Lucian did not eat food, he did not really drink much and he certainly did not dance under any circumstances, so why he was here he didn't really know, he supposed the reason could be to get to know his students and potential prey a little better, but, that wasn't it either.

Like always he wore his typical black suit, no tie and shirt unbuttoned a slight bit to give him some room to breathe, entering the room fully he stopped and watched the Professors, they were all odd.

Sighing he circled the room a few times before settling in front of the drinks table, his designated spot for tonights festivities.

Aquila was un-fazed by The Doctor's 'dramatic' speech, preferring to inspect her nails carefully whilst he talked. Once he was done, she looked up and pursed her lips. She noticed some people beginning to dance, so she stood up, deciding not to sit at the table like a loner and walked over to a wall, which she proceeded to lean against.

She folded her arms over her chest, set her face in a bored expression and got ready for several hours of leaning against a wall, waiting with baited breath for this dance to end. She wasn't sure why she was here, perhaps to survey the other students, or perhaps to not be seen as a loser who sat in her dorm whilst everyone attended the dance.

All she knew was she was bored, and her back was beginning to ache from such a position.

Lucian saw a girl that he knew, Aquila, come into the hall, he grinned a little and walked over to her, she looked very pretty in her pink dress and although he was loathed to admit it because he hated the colour pink, the dress looked good on her.

"Hello there Aquila, I trust you are well."

Once again he bowed to her and then as he straightened looked out across the dancehall at some of the students already dancing, it looked odd to him to see children engaging in this type of activity, but he wasn't one to complain...

As long as he didn't have to do it.

"You look as thrilled as I for this ball. Have you come for the food, drink or uncomfortable wall space?"

Violeta could care less about the Highmasters speech she was not going to be here during the summer or at least she planned to go back to Russia and spend it with her family in the wealth that she was accustomed to and her own room however if an more interesting propsal showed up she would be happy to take it.

Her eyes lit up a little when she saw Luc but she would wait until he noticed her before she noted his presence for the time she just stood in the back and watched the her classmates react to the Highmasters speech she liked the background for know one could tell that she was different.

Lucian saw from afar when he lifted his gaze that Violeta was here also, this really was too perfect two lovely ladies in their finest who both seemed at get along with him, this was going to be a lovely night out.

Not wanting to leave Aquila he motioned for her to wait a moment before jogging over to Violeta, his hair bouncing as he did so, eventually stoping in front of her after a jog that had seemed like an eternity he smirked.

"My my Violeta, you look truly beautiful tonight, you could break more than a few hearts the way I see it, will you come back with me and join Aquila and I?"

Violeta smiled at his compliment. "Of course I will join you and Aquila. You are the only person who interests me personally." Her parents had come through and bought her the dress that she was nagging them for and it seemed to be paying off for she did realize a few of the boys staring at her.

She really did like to be the center of attention when she had the chance as well as hide in the backgrounds so others would not notice her beauty and charm.

Grinning Lucian held out his arm for Violeta to link with her own, it was something he wasn't familiar with, being so suave in this form but he was beginning to quite enjoy it and wondered if he would be able to play it up a little bit, all he wanted after all was to make ladies happy.

"A compliment if I ever heard one, I do not deserve such praise, tell me, what will it please you to do tonight? To converse or other matters?"

Although he had been told he was formal, Lucian was still getting the hang of not speaking in anything but Shakespearian, which was what his last dialect had been.

When he reached Aquila again Lucian unpinned himself from Violeta.

"I trust you two know each other? If not, Violeta this is Aquila, Aquila this is Violeta, and you two are both two wondeful ladies I really am lucky to be standing beside you tonight." he smiled darkly, after all he didn't say this in a happy manner but one which could be described as predatorial until he shook it off and grinned.

Viktoria had been present for the speech that the Doctor gave, Viktoria smiled softly and she knew that it was going to be dangerous for him tomorrow, she had confidence in the Doctor but she also knew that Briony Romain was fierce fighter, the Doctor didn't fight at all!

Biting her lip, Viktoria smiled as he finished and the students began to socialise with each other, there were a few late starters but they were able to catch up with their lessons and were ready to graduate.

"That was a very good speech Doctor, especially considering..."

Viktoria trailed off with a sad look:

"I do wish you'd let me come with you."

The Doctor moved over to Viktoria, smiling as he neared her. She truly was beautiful. Taking her hand in his own, The Doctor kissed the back of her hand with a happy smile,

"Well thank you my dear." he smiled a little bit more before guiding her lightly towards the dancefloor, "I think it best the students hear these truths from me rather than learn them from the outside world. As for tomorrow..."

He shrugged a little bit as he held Viktoria close, moving to join the waltz that was going on,

"Well I'd let you come but..." he sighed and looked sad for a few seconds before hiding it with a weak smile, "I couldn't stand it if you were hurt..."

Jadzia sat at the teacher's table and watched as the headmaster's words struck each child. Each student had a different reaction. It was obvious that some chose to remain ignorant of the war, but others showed their worry and concern plainly on their faces. Jadzia's thoughts immediately turned to the upcoming battle. It wouldn't be easy but with their careful planning, it should be a great success for Germany.

With a small sigh, she turned her attention back towards the present. There was no use in worrying about tomorrow when she could be enjoying her time in the present.

Aquila looked up as a rather handsome looking Lucian made his way over to her, and she nodded her head in greeting to him after he had bowed. "Hello, Lucian. You look nice. I come for the drinks, but I stay for the un-comfortable wall space," she said to Lucian, before watching as he spotted another of his friends and not caring when he left to greet her.

He returned with said friend, and introduced her as Violeta. Aquila let the smallest of smiles grace her features, and it was directed at Violeta, before she let it drop. "Nice to meet you, Violeta," Aquila said, reigning in her questionable thoughts at the tone Lucian had just used.

It had been un-nerving, but she pushed those thoughts aside. "Don't mind me, you two, go off and dance." Aquila's tone was verging on sour due to her boredom. She hated dressing up, but when her mother had sent her this dress she had decided to wear it. After all- she had nothing else to wear. She didn't really find dresses all that wonderful, after all.

Lucian smirked a little and shook his head, that was the only thing he would not do, he would never ever dance in a million years, even if it would make a ladies dream come true a hundred times over, he just couldn't do it.

"Ah, dancing."

He said pulling a face which seemed as if he was trying to get out of an awkward situation, which it was, he had always been bad at dancing and it would shame him to have to do it.

"That is one thing that I am afraid I cannot do, however, I'll be more than happy to stand here and do anything else, but, you know, dance."

"Aha, Mr. Perfect can't dance," Aquila grinned as she held back laughter. "How on earth can you charm a woman when you can't dance?" Aquila asked, befuddled. From what she knew, most girls adored dancing.

She, on the other hand, didn't mind it. "Ah, I guess it doesn't matter. I don't mind dancing, but I don't find it all too enjoyable. Especially when you can't just sway to the music with a good friend," Aquila shrugged nonchalantly.

"So, what do you plan on doing, Lucian? Standing here with us all evening? Such fun." Aquila said sarcastically.

Tarragon waited just inside the door with Terry like they'd agreed, their dates had told them that they would meet them here so it was just a waiting game. He looked around the room, there were lots of pretty dresses in the hall already, he was trying to make sure he hadn't missed Alys, but he was positive he hadn't. They were just late, he told himself.

People had already started dancing and socialising, Tarragon noted to meet Terry or the girls the next time this happened. He scanned the teachers table idley, not all of them had appeared yet, being late was evidently fashionable for them.

Terry was standing with Tarragon and both of them were searching the room looking for their dates.

"Leave it to woman to be fashionably late." laughed Terry

He was just glad he had Tarragon to stand with because he would have looked really weird standing by himself. He had dug through he clothes and found one of his favorite muggle suits to wear and he thought it made him look hot.

Now all they had to do was wait..wait..and wait some more..

End of school dance (Open) Alysonesleeve

Alys could have kicked herself for saying yes to going to the ball with Tarragon without giving the matter any thought. As it was, she had simply nodded, thinking of the great opportunity to tease Zara and Terry. But the small fact that it was a formal occasion which required formal dressing hadn't hit her until yesterday when she had walked into the Muhe girls' dorms to witness a heated debate among some third year witches on wearing black. Apparently someone's mother said that black wasn't the right color to wear on such occasions while another's older sister in Risiko claimed otherwise.

Alys couldn't care less about he color, make, fabric and the other silly details. But it did remind the that she had absolutely nothing with sleeves that would pass of as formal wear. All the dresses Alys had brought to Durmstrang had been before... and she had stopped wearing sleeveless things almost a year ago. The girl had been ready to tell Tarragon that she couldn't make it to the ball after all when Zara had noticed and had came to her rescue.

First, the witches had dug through Zara's things to see if anything fitted Alys but all of the redhead's formal dresses were sleeveless too. And while her best friend was beautiful and confident enough to pull of any style, Alys had no such notions about herself. But Zara hadn't given up. Through a combination of charm, bribery and outright blackmail, the redhead had found a dress from a third year and threatened to hex the student's Herbert off if she didn't give it up.

It wasn't of a style the blonde was used to but it did have a sleeve, which was the most important thing. And as an added bonus, it was also blue.

Alys and Zara walked into the transformed hall together - albeit a little late, Alys had forgotten her pendant and they had to turn back - smiling all over their faces at pulling off the biggest dress snatching of the year.

Lucian grinned and he shrugged his shoulders, he admitted that it was a very bad point in his arsenal that he couldn't actually danc, sometimes he thought he should take lessons other times he thought that he would just deal with it and get better at other things.

"Yeah yeah laugh it up Aquila, laugh it up."

The idea of standing here all evening was one that he couldn't really bare, but the arrival of some new students made his attention peak, another girl, but she wasn't anywhere near as pretty as Violeta and Aquila.

Sighing he shrugged his shoulders again.

"I really don't know why I even turned up in this horrible suit that's far too tight and it's just too itchy to be allowed." he scowled, pouting.

Zara walked next to Alys in high spirits. Her dress snabbing had gone exceptionally well and she was able to find her favorite dress hidden in her trunk, her boots perfectly mis-matched her dress, and their friends were patiently waiting for the pair at the ball.

They made it just in time to hear the cryptic ending to the Headmaster's speach and quickly found their friends.

Aquila smirked when Lucian told her to laugh it up. "Oh I plan on it," she joked. She really didn't care that much, just found it highly amusing.

Aquila nodded in agreement when he questioned why he had even showed. "I to wonder, though I think it is most likely because I don't want to be the loser that sat in her dorm while everyone else danced the night away." Aquila shrugged, she was here now and at least had someone to talk too.

"I'll go back to my dorm anyway soon, though it is such a waste, this dress," Aquila ran her fingers over the material, sighing gently. "I'll just tell mother I danced the night away in it." Aquila shrugged. "What do you two plan on doing? Standing here all night?" Aquila asked.

The boys wait had finally come to and end when Terrence noticed that Zara and Alys had walked into the great hall.

He first noticed Alys. "Alys my dear that is quite a lovely dress" he reached to grab her hand and offer it a slight kiss.

Then Terrence turned to his date Zara. "Zara my dear you have made me speechless." Terrence grabbed her hand and also placed a kiss upon it.

"Here let me get a better look at you" as he took her hand and twirled her around. "I love the dress, very interesting"

Tarragon waited for Terrance before smiling shyly at Alys. She looked amazing, to put it simply. He opened his mouth to say something, but his words were lost. He closed his mouth sheepishly.

"Wow?" He said, though he hadn't meant it to come out in such a stupid tone. Shaking himself, he continued. "I mean, good evening Fraulein Diederich! You look amazing, I see your pendant matches your dress perfectly!"

He smiled and offered her his arm, about to lead her to the punch bowl so they could all get a drink. "May I?"

Alys couldn't help the blush that spread on her face as both boys complimented her dress. If only they knew how many enemies both she and Zara had made to secure it. She smiled even wider when Terry took Zara's hand and twirled her around, appreciating her own get up. The witch decided Terry would in fact be getting the best friend seal of approval later tonight. Any boy who could appreciate Zara for her wonderful uniqueness was perfect in Alys' books.

"Wow?" He said, though he hadn't meant it to come out in such a stupid tone. Shaking himself, he continued. "I mean, good evening Fraulein Diederich! You look amazing, I see your pendant matches your dress perfectly!"

Her blue eyes sparkling with mischief, the witch took Tarragon's hand. "Of course it matches," she said with a laugh as the pendant shone a brilliant blue against the pale column of her throat. The witch hadn't been this happy in a long time. School was finally over, she would be going to Livadia Palace tomorrow with Zara and Lehrer M for the weddings and a few days later, back to her hometown and her Mama and Papa.

The witch took the punch, sipping at the warm spiced beverage happily and taking in the boy's formal wear. Both looked stunning and she doubted there was a better dressed male student at the school now. Zara and Alys had definitely lucked out.

Tarragon saw as Alys' eyes looked over his attire. But when she didn't say anything he worried.

"Did I not do enough to wow you tonight?" He mocked a frown taking a drink of punch and screwing his nose up. He never had liked punch and tonight was no different. "I brought it new especially!"

He winked in her direction.

"So, Zara and Terry, how long til he mans up enough to ask her out?" He said, not having missed the little episode between them when they entered.
