Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Despite what he'd said, Marcus had found it impossible not to stay up. Not only did he want to wait for Charlie but he actually had an article to write up for the newpaper. He would have had it finished by dinner time but he'd been distracted with his meeting with Charlie, someone he'd never thought about ever meeting before.
In true gentlemanly fashion when he'd poured himself a glass of red wine he'd poured a second glass and rested it next to the diaries on his desk as he worked quietly, the only sounds in the room the sound of a clock ticking and his fountain pen working against the parchment.

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie appeared outside of the house that she thought that Marcus would live in, it was really much like the other that he had lived in when he was a few hundred years earlier.
It pained her a little and she looked inside of the house, he was working on something and the diaries were on the desk next to him so there was no chance of her flitting in to get them or avoiding conversation, sighing, Charlie clambered up the tree outside and watched him for a moment.
Deciding that she might as well go in, heart still tugging from the two wine glasses, Charlie flitted inside and stood in the doorway of the room that Marcus was in. Staying silent she watched.

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Marcus was just finishing up the article about Diagon Alley during wartime when he felt something was off. He stopped his pen so that the only sound in the room was the sound of a clock ticking. But he also felt strangely different, better. That could only mean one thing. Not turning to look at her, Marcus sipped at his wine and gestured to the other one with a hand,
"I know you can't drink it..." he turned to her with a small smile, "But you can taste it right?"
He chuckled a little bit,
"Sorry... I know I said I'd be in bed but I had a lot of work to do..." he smirked softly, "The Daily Prophet is a slave driver I tell you. How has your night been so far then Charlie?"

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie made a small strangled noise and moved to sit down in the chair looking at the drink and blinking slightly, she couldn't believe that he had done the exact same thing that Marcus had done, she hoped the meeting wouldn't end up the same.
"He said the same thing to me, when we met like this, forgive me but you seem to be copying him a lot when we meet."
Finding it hard not to fall for this Marcus too, Charlie lowered her head, her eyes red permanently now, she could not bring herself to drink since this revelation had occurred.
"I should have known you'd have been in something to do with literature. My night has been normal. Nothing out of the ordinary."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
It was only after she'd made a strangely sorrowful sound that he realised his mistake. He hung his head a little. He'd reminded her of the first Marcus again. It wasn't as if he'd done it on purpose, it just seemed like the right thing to do but apparently it would bring up more bad memories,
"Ah... sorry." he appologised with a small smile, "It just seemed like the right thing to do you know? Sorry if I brought up any... bad memories."
Noticing her eyes were now staying red, Marcus was rather thankful. Her brown eyes were beautiful but her red eyes were just so much more natural for her. But he knew what it meant from lessons on vampires,
"Yes... my entire family has been in literature in some way or another. We do get quite a lot of bad press though. Apparently we're depressing." he joked lightly before becoming more serious, "Have you fed?"

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie nodded at Marcus and smiled a faint sliver of a smile, he was like his ancestor but that wasn't his fault so she didn't know why he kept on apologising for it, it's not like he could change and she was beginning to not want him to.
"Don't be sorry, it will just take a while for me to get used to you, again. It is hard for me not to do things to you I would have done to him."
Not minding whether they were depressing writers, Charlie knew that real life was not all cookies and rainbows and so she appreciated a writer who was a little more realistic.
"Not every story is a happy one, sometimes sad stories are the beat kinds, it makes them more real."
Shaking her head once Charlie said: "No."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
To be honest, Marcus hadn't really thought on the similarities he must share with his ancestor, the first Marcus Umec. It was mainly because no one had been able to compare them but Charlie was. He chuckled and nervously scratched the back of his head,
"Well surely it means you've got a head-start in knowing me?" he blushed a little bit at that last bit, "Well I might be my own person but I recognise now how like him I am... It's almost scary."
Marcus chuckled a little bit, shaking his head a little bit. It was a problem to get published for him as it had been for the first Marcus,
"Yes but happy seems to sell better. People read to escape reality aparently." he commented dryly, smirking lightly as he did so. When she said she hadn't fed he frowned a little bit, "You must be... hungry."
Taking her wine glass, he poured the wine into his own glass before taking a sharp letter opener and cutting his palm slightly to let the blood drip steadily into the glass,
"Thank god for healing charms..."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie smiled lightly, it was still hard but if she looked at it in this way, it was like he was back from the grave, back from the dead and God had given her a new chance to get it right this time, and she would, she would get it right this time.
"It is sort of like that, although I did never know your ancestor that well we only met a few times, so his love for me so soon after meeting is...so very strange to me still."
Unable to think why the literature of the Umec family wasn't doing to well, Charlie frowned and furrowed her brow in thought.
"You can still escape, reading about others misfortune as opposed to your own."
Charlies eyes widened and she moved forward to stop Marcus from doing what he was about to and was too late, her eyes flashed red at the scent of blood and she groaned lightly:
"Marcus, you shouldn't have done that, I vowed never to drink your blood again you waste it."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
It wasn't strange for Marcus at all. He could see exactly why his ancestor had fallen head over heels for Charlie when they'd first met. He understood it in the perfect sense that only one who was going through the same thing could reach,
"It's not all that strange." he replied with a smile, "Love at first sight... kind of romantic don't you think?"
He could see that she was a little confused about the lack of success the Umecs had in literature. It was a rather open secret,
"We write things that are too sad. In case you were wondering." he told her before shrugging, "I'm not that big a reader... definately not compared to how much I like to write."
Marcus winced ever so slightly from the cut and squeezed about a full mouthful out into the glass before healing the cut with a tap of his wand. He turned to Charlie with a small smile and held the glass out for her to take,
"Consider it a gift." he said with a small smile, "Break your fast for just one drink..."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie chuckled softly and shook her head, over the years she had thought about what the attraction might be between them when they had first met, love at first sight seemed to be the answer to it. Even if Charlie still didn't fully believe in it.
"I believe that there is a definate attraction between people when they first meet, but it takes a conversation to fall head over heels, and well, me and Marcus made love..."
Blinking slightly, Charlie laughed quietly; "Maybe that's more poignant than talking in some ways."
Charlie nodded and clasped her hands together with a small sad noise, it was true, and in her time she had hated sad novels, now however she appreciated them: "Well each to their own, it takes time to develop your tastes, and it's obvious some people never do."
"You can only appreciate happiness, if you have experienced sadness after all."
Shaking her head even though she was tempted, Charlie looked at Marcus' neck and whined softly; "No." she whispered.

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
He could tell by Charlie's little chuckle that she didn't believe in love at first sight. That was alright though, there were plenty of other kinds of love to experience,
"Maybe it just hits some people later?" he suggested with a small smile before his eyes widened and he blushed bright red when Charlie told him what she and his ancestor had done. That hadn't been in the diaries, "R-really? You... you made love?"
Marcus smiled, happy to be in the company of someone who truly understood what it meant to be a writer, even if he wasn't sure if she'd ever written. He grinned,
"Exactly." he shrugged a little bit before smirking playfully, "I suppose I could always just turn to muggle writing and write love stories for teenage girls. Lots of needless angst."
When he heard her whine a little bit he noticed her attention was fixed on his neck. He swallowed a little bit,
"Straight... straight from the source?"

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie raised her eyebrows slightly when she heard that her and Marcus Snr. Making love had obviously been one that was new to Marcus, she couldn't help but blush a little, she had been more than a little cavalier in her youth and she regretted it.
"Yes, me and your ancestor made love the first night we met, we couldn't get enough of each other I suppose the right phrasing would be, although it was awfully improper of us."
Eyes widening at even the suggestion of such a thing, Charlie shook her head swiftly, Marcus writing monotonous drivel that was labelled teen fiction? No sir.
"No, keep to your writing, after all classics such as Dickens are focused on very sad topics."
Charlie could smell the blood in the glass and the hunger Rose within her, unable to stop her fangs elongating she looked at Marcus with starving eyes: " I want it so badly..."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
He could tell that Charlie was blushing because there was an ever so faint colouring of her cheeks but it paled in comparision to his own, nuclear level, blush at hearing that his namesake, a man he took after in almost all ways, had made love to Charlie. It took a few moments for his brain to reboot but when it did he smiled,
"There's nothing wrong with expressing your love for someone in a physical way." he told her with a smile and a blush, "It's perfectly acceptable."
He chuckled at her reaction to his joking suggestion of writing teenage-geared drivel. Truth be told he'd picked up a book about teenage vampires and then burnt it after the first page. He raised an eyebrow,
"That's true..." he reflected, "My inspiration was Edgar Allen Poe. If I can write half as well as he did I would consider myself a success, even if I never got published."
He could see her fangs elongate and his breath caught for just a second before he smiled a little bit. Standing up, Marcus walked closer to Charlie and held the glass out for her,
"Take it Charlie..." he told her in a whisper, "Just a taste..."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie chuckled slightly, almost in an embarrassed fashion and she tucked a strand of hair behind her eat in an attempt to calm herself down a little bit from what she had been like before, using up her blood up blush like that.
Thinking back to that time, Charlie smiled sadly in memory of that night, it had been perfect, if only she had realised it.
"It was shameful back in those days, not like I was bothered enough to pay heed to what 'society' had to say about me."
With a small smile Charlie nodded, she thought that Marcus was a good writer, not there yet but close: "I knew Poe, he was a good writer but other aspects of him were questionable to say the least."
When Marcus asked her to take his blood in that whisper, Charlie stood up and flitted over to him, running the fingertips of one hand down his cheek as she tilted her head to one side of his neck.
"Would you let me partake from your neck Marcus? This blood is cold now..."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
He smiled when she chuckled. It was obvious she was more than a little bit embarassed, the fact that she'd blush proved that on it's own. But the cute way she chuckled about it made Marcus smile more. The sad smile though, that made his smile less obviously happy,
"It might have been back then..." he admitted before smiling, "But what happens between two people, in the privacy of their rooms, is not the business of society."
Marcus raised an eyebrow before grinning. A chance to learn about one of his favourite poets was always welcomed,
"Other aspects of his life?" he tilted his head to the side in polite confusion, "Like what?"
The fact that she'd flitted over to him spoke volumes about how much she wanted the blood. He chuckled, nervously, when she stroked his cheek to look at his neck,
"Sure." he answered almost immediately with a smile, "Have a taste."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie nodded, that was something that she wasn't used to about this society, it was so different in terms of restrictions and technology, she had seen inventions been created and then develop over time until they were barely recognisable.
"That's true, although it does take a bit of the danger and the forbidden element out of it though, which was in the thrill of the chase."
Giving Marcus a light grin Charlie turned it into a smile as she thought about Poe, he had been pleasant enough until he had attired to put his hand upon her chest.
"He was a slight pervert when I met him." she smiled gently.
Charlies eyes sparked and she ram her fangs against the skin of Marcus' neck with a low moan at the smell of the blood, it being so close to her now, it was tantalising.
"Are you certain?"

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Marcus chuckled a little bit when he realised how silly it must seem, the he was talking to a vampire about society's changes. After all, she had seen it change with her own eyes,
"Ah well if it's the thrill you're after..." he blushed and chuckled nervously, "Society is more accepting now..."
He blinked a few times before he began to chuckle. Then he began to laugh. After a few moments of laughing he grinned happily,
"Oh that's good..." he grinned, "Edgar Allan Poe was a perv... love it!"
He saw her eyes sparkle as he tilted his head slightly. When she ran her fangs along his neck his shuddered slightly but nodded,
"Yes. Take some."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie gently kissed Marcus' neck and looked up into his eyes as she thought about a response to his statement, it was true that when she was younger she did enjoy that thrill, now however that drive had gone as it would do for all ancients.
"It used to be what I desired when I was young and foolhardy, now, I am content with the simpler things...but also...the much bigger question."
Now having gotten his approval twice Charlie nodded and got her fangs ready at his neck:
"This won't hurt."
As soon as she began to push her fangs into his neck, the serum that they contained flooded out, to make the feeding pleasurable not painful, the taste of fresh human blood after so long made Charlie groan happily as she lapped at his neck.

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
When Charlie kissed his neck, Marcus closed his eyes for a second and let out a breath that could very easily be heard as the slightest of moans. He nodded, distractedly,
"Sometimes the simple things are the best things..." he whispered quietly, "My grandfather once wrote... 'it is in the simple things in which we find our live's true meaning'."
He could feel her fangs in position to bite down, ready to taste him, and Marcus nodded,
"Do it..."
There was a second when Marcus thought he could feel pain but then it was gone, instead making the entire area warm and suddenly very comfortable. As Charlie began to lap up the blood, Marcus moaned lightly at the pleasured effects of the serum.

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie groaned lightly as she sucked ever so slightly to get more blood from the wounds, it was like a delicious wave of red honey flowing over her Tongue and she couldnt help but fall in love with the taste again, it was the best feeling shed experienced in a long while.
Remembering not to drain him too much she stopped suddenly and drew away, lapping at the wounds to close them up, the serum from her fangs working to that effect also.
For a moment she just looked at Marcus, letting the tremors fill her heart before she kissed him softly, sweetly.
"Thank you Marcus, it didn't hurt too much did it?" Charlie asked guiltily.

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
He heard her groan and felt his breath quicken. The way she sucked at his wounds made him feel weak at the knees, as if the simple action had dragged yet more pleasure from his body. He was happy that she seemed to be having a good time, a very good time if the look on her face was anything to go by. When she pulled away, Marcus let out a disappointed groan. He'd been enjoying that. As his wounds closed up, Marcus found himself weak at the knees again, having not realised how drained he felt until the pleasure began to die down. He kissed her back, loving the sensation of her lips against his almost as much as being fed from,
"It didn't hurt at all Charlie." he assured her before blushing, he had gotten rather aroused, "It was my pleasure..."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie pressed her hand against Marcus' cheeks, and she felt the warmth from her hands on his skin, before the heat almost completely dissappeared and she sighed lightly, it was something that was a little bit saddenning, she had wanted to feel human for that little bit longer.
Seeing, and smelling, that Marcus' was having a more than positive reaction to the feeding that she had just given him, and it made a devious glint appear in her eyes, seeing however that he was completely drained, she pouted and decided that she couldn't do it tonight.
"No need to blush, I promise, you've reacted in the exact same way before..." she breathed, and drew closer to Marcus, smiling shyly "Hold me?"

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
When she pressed her hand against his cheek he smiled and nuzzled his cheek into her hand more. He heard her sigh as his cheek began to get a little bit colder. He caught her hand in his, to hold her cold hand in his warm one.
Marcus blushed madly when he remembered that vampires had a better sense of smell. She might be able to smell, as well as see, his new predicament. He saw the glint in her eyes and assumed that the pout was over something that they couldn't do now. His weak knees gave him the answer as to what that might be,
"I... I have no doubt I'll react the same way in the future too..." he replied before smiling and leading her over to the bed. As he laid them both down onto the bed, he wrapped his arms around her to let her cuddle with him, "Always."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Charlie whipped her head around to see Marcus placing her hand back on his cheek, and it made her smile a little bit, she was glad that it was something that he could accept about her, the fact that she was cold and would often make her being next to him unbareable, as it would be too cold for him.
It was something that she had accepted but, she hoped now that it was completely wrong.
"I'm glad that you are going to be able to react the same when it comes to the next time...which who knows when it will be." she smiled lightly, leaning next to him on the bed, and looking into his eyes while she lay there, placing her hand back on his cheek, and stroking it lightly.
"Just tell me when it gets too cold for you."

Re: Reading the past (Charlie and Marcus)
Marcus wasn't going to lie and say that her hand wasn't cold but he going to tell the truth when he told her that he didn't mind at all. It was all just part of who she was and he accepted that, and everything else about her, whole heartedly. Her body could absorb heat and his generated more than the usual amount. He would happily share his warmth with her,
"Maybe it can be sooner... rather than later?" he suggested with a smile and a small blush, "I don't ever want you to go without blood for too long... I will gladly let you fed whenever you like Charlie."
As her hand stroked his cheek, Marcus turned his head to kiss her fingers lightly. He looked back into her eyes as he held her close,
"It will never be too cold to hold you Charlie." he whispered quietly, "Nothing could make me want to hold you any less."
