Second years, first lesson: Ventus
Lucia sat behind her desk, waiting for the students to file in. She was wondering how this class would be. She was honestly more nervous about this one than what she was when thinking about the first class. They had never had another DADA teacher before.
She sighed when thinking about that. But she wasn't going to falter. She knew most of the students' names given she had been their healer for a while, and many came to her after the war at the end of the year. She didn't know if she should mention it, but she also felt like ignoring it would be worse. Especially thinking about the casualties. Some had died, and it would be an insult to their memory to just move on. She knew she had to say something about it all. And she decided what when some students filed into the classroom.
On the blackboard she had written the spell they were going to work with today. Ventus. It was a funny spell to practice as long as one didn't do it too much. It had happened that Lucia had used the spell in combat and seriously hurt someone with it. Of course, she didn't think the second years would be strong enough to do some real damage with it.

Haley walked into the DADA classroom, not knowing who was the new professor. She was surprised to see it was the school healer. Haley smiled slightly at her and sat down in the front, taking up her books. She looked up at the blackboard and saw the spell there. She opened the book quickly and found the spell and saw that it might be good fun this lesson.

Charlotte walked into the lesson and blinked a little when she saw that they actually had a Professor, they hadn't really been taught a lot last year but she didn't mind, as long as they were going to learn something now thats all that mattered.
Seeing Haley already there Charlotte smiled at her and slid into a seat next to her, taking out her book like she had done and opening it to the right page, looking over ther spell briefly.
Not knowing if talking was accepted or not by this Professor Charlotte stated quiet, just in case.

Re: Second years, first lesson: Ventus
Keiba entered the classroom, trying to multitask and take out her books before she sat down, and promptly banged into a chair, toppling it over and making a humongous BANG! She froze, staring around like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a speeding truck. "Oops," she said meekly. She picked up the chair, and deciding it was dangerous, moved as far away from it as she could. Keiba took a seat by the window, in the front row, and smiled sheepishly at Haley and Char.
It wasn't long before her knee started to throb, and she rubbed it vainly. Keiba laughed internally at her self. Must've made quite a spectacle back there. She got out her books, this time without knocking over any chairs, scanned the board, wrote down the title and sat back in her chair.
"Good morning, Professor!" she said, as if nothing had happened.

Lucia smiled softly as Ms. Namid knocked over a chair. "Don't worry," she said calmly.
Then Ms. Namid took a spot and started rubbing her knee. Lucia's smile widened slightly. She pointed her wand at the knee and shot a healing spell at it to make sure the pain and bruise that was yet to come would stay away from Ms. Namid's knee.
"Good morning, Ms. Namid," she said softly.
She looked at the other students in the class, surprised at how quiet they were.
"While we wait for the others, feel free to make as much noise suitable to you as you wish. Class haven't started just yet," she said, grinning at Ms. Smith and Ms. Smith.
Then she frowned.
"Ms. Smith ... s," she said laughing a bit, "Would you mind if I call you Ms. Haley and Ms. Charlotte? It would sort out confusion when I called on one of you. Are you related?"

Haley looked up at Charlotte with a small smile when she sat down next to her. She didn't want to talk in case professor Henley found it annoying. She didn't want to start her week with losing points in stead of getting them.
Then Keiba came stumbling in, and Haley felt a grin spread on her face, a true one, and smiled kindly to Keiba as she sat down by a window. Then professor Henley said that it was okay for them to talk.
"Nice entrance," Haley then teased good-heartedly to Keiba, winking.
She turned to Charlotte. "Hey," she said, feeling a bit lighter with Keiba on one side and Charlotte on the other. She had never valued the true meaning of friendship before now. Not truly.

Re: Second years, first lesson: Ventus
Airen walked into the classroom, looking around and seeing that there were already three girls in the class. Hiding a smile at how few boys there were in his year, he sat next to Charlotte. He gave them a small nod.
"Hey, girls, have a nice summer?" he asked. He knew a portion of Charlotte's summer, but he didn't know about the other two whom he'd met at the beginning of the ball.
"Ciao (hi), Professor," he said, taking out his parchment and ink.

Keiba grinned at Haley and poked her tongue out. "I know right? Absolutely fabulous." She giggled.
"Hello, Airen!" Keiba smiled at the newcomer. "Mine was great, thanks. You?"

"Era buono," Airen replied. He realized that he spoke in Italian and quickly corrected himself.
"It was good. I visited my aunt, and hung out with Charlotte," he said, inclining his head to his (almost) girlfriend.

Haley chuckled at Keiba as she stuck her tongue out.
She then stuck her hand out holding it flat. "Mirror," she said 'reflecting' the tongue pointing back to Keiba.
Then she looked and saw Airen. "Hey Airen," she said with a smile, "My holiday could've been better."
She said it so she wouldn't have to tell everyone. She knew they'd know once, but she didn't want to be the one to say it.
She then smiled as Airen described his own holiday. "Good to hear that you enjoyed yourself," she said with a smile, winking at him and then looking 'discreetly' at Charlotte.

Keiba was on the verge of breaking down and rolling on the floor laughing. Okay, maybe that was an over-statement, but it was close. She really enjoyed Haley's company.
"Hey, that's great Airen!" Keiba didn't pick up that 'subtle' hint that Airen and Charlotte were almost there. Although she should have, she wasn't paying close enough attention. "I'm glad you had fun. It was freezing down under this year, though. It reached minus 9 at one point! That's certainly a first for Australia. But it still didn't snow - I'm still waiting for that day back in Aus!" she said, disappointment tinging her voice.

Re: Second years, first lesson: Ventus
Entering the classroom she noticed that there was a lot of miscellany things going on, chaotic things at that. She found their interactions, amusing, but something she'd rather not get into. Seeing that it was a new Professor, Healer Henley, she was surprised but happy.
She smiled politely and sat down, across from all the chaos, not wanting to get in trouble. She opened her book and simply waited patiently.

Salina sighed as she made her way to yet another class. She wondered if she should drop some, but decided against it. She really just needed to get back into the groove of lessons, then she would be fine.
She entered the classroom with a sigh and sat down. Her days were so repetitive at school.

Pxyis entered the classroom with a dramatic sigh. Already she had tired of her lessons, and but she busied herself with many of them so as to avoid an awkward conversation with Parker. Had heart had cracked slightly over their misunderstanding, her having developed the smallest of crushes on him.
She spied Salina, who looked as moody as her and decided that if there was one person that she could stand being around at the moment, it was her. She knew that Salina was suffering from the loss of her twin, and she felt sympathy for the girl. She took a seat beside her, and said nothing, for she knew that Salina did not wish to talk just yet.

Airen blushed at Haley's wink. He smiled shyly. "Yes, I did have a good time. Brrr, I don't think I want to know how cold that feels," he said, pretending to shiver at the thought.
He looked up at the professor, wondering why the lesson hadn't begun yet. He dipped his quill in his inkwell and drew an outline of Epos. He began filling in the details, but stopped and folded the paper up. He put it in his pocket and waited for the lesson to start. He was getting bored.

Lucia looked at the students and then rose from the desk.
"Everyone," she said, smiling at them, "Let's start our lesson."
She walked around the desk and leaned against it.
"Turn to page 34, and then can someone tell me what kind of spell Ventus is? Not as in the effect, but is it a Jinx, a Curse or a Hex?" Lucia asked them when they all fell silent.

Re: Second years, first lesson: Ventus
Charlotte smiled softly and shook her head at Professor Henley's question, no she wasn't related to Haley she didn't think, anyway, she wasn't a Smith by blood so she wouldn't be anyway.
"No Professor, me and Haley aren't related, I'm a Matthews by blood. Anyway I don't mind you calling me Ms. Charlotte."
She listened into the conversation and smiled bashfully, there seemed to be a lot of subtle hints between everyone about her and Air, not that she minded at all, she just wasn't used to it.
When the class begun, Charlotte raised her hand to answer:
"Is it a jinx Professor?"

Lucia smiled to Charlotte.
"Right you are," she said, "Five points to Slytherin."
"So, what effect does it have?" she then asked, looking around.

Re: Second years, first lesson: Ventus
Victoria ran to class, having been deterred by some lost first years. She paused a moment outside the door to catch her breath, then tried to open it as quietly as possible. It was obvious that the silence in the class was from the teacher just having asked a question, so she took the opportunity to move to the front.
"I'm really sorry I'm late, Professor. There is no excuse and I assure you it won't happen again." She tried to whisper, as not to cause a distraction.
Feeling terrible at missing Professor Henley's beginning of class, she quietly slumped over to sit next to Tess, pulling out her book and flipping to the next page.

Tess looked over to look at the door as it creaked open. She smiled slightly seeing it was Victoria, but felt bad for her because she had to apologize for being late. She patted her arm softly as she saw down beside her.
She raised her hand to try and remove any attention from Victoria.
"Ventus, comes from the Latin word Vento which means wind. Ventus shoots a blast of wind usually used to push objects away."
She knew that was right because in Spanish "Viento" meant wind and both being a Latin root based language, it worked fine.

Tabi once again was late to a class and she didn't really care she just walked into defense and sat down. He only excuse was every time she checked the class the teacher was not here.
Walking into the classroom she took a seat in the back of the room and was looking at the spell they were studying. Ventus she would have to drag out her book and see what that was about.

As he turned down the hall he saw the door creak closed as someone walked in. He gladly thought he'd not be late. As he walked in though, it seemed otherwise. He frowned but it didn't fall that much upon seeing the nurse was here. Embarrassed, he quietly took his seat. Maybe this would give him the chance to finally talk to her after class.
He glanced up, noticing the spell written on the board. He pulled out his book, and a parchment and quill.

Pxyis turned the book to the required page, and read over the spell. She had to hold back a snort of laughter, for she would not need a wand to control the wind, but she wasn't about to let the entire class know. She grinned as Char gained Slytherin 5 points. She felt her mood lift slightly.
However, when the door creaked open and Parker slid inside, her mood dropped and her smile fell from her face rather quickly. Her attention quickly returned to the teacher.

Lucia looked up and saw Ms. Rossmund come into the classroom. The girl apologized and Lucia smiled softly.
"It's okay, we have just started," Lucia said calmly, "We're learning about the jinx Ventus, and I just asked of its effect."
Ms. McCartney then answered the question. "Very good, Ms. McCartney, Ventus is indeed a wind spell. It shoots out a blast of air to push objects out of the way. It can also be used on people," Lucia said.
Then Ms. Prewett came walking in, and shortly after, Mr. Emery. Lucia didn't like it when people were late, but she wouldn't take housepoints from them just yet.
"Ms. Rossmund, Ms. Prewett and Mr. Emery, make sure you're not late for next class. I will not overlook it if it becomes repetitive," Lucia said softly.
Then she looked around the class. "All right, I want you all to go into pairs and perform the spell at each other. When you are the one jinxed, lean forward and steady yourself so you don't lose your balance. The one jinxing, make sure the other person is ready so no knock outs happen," Lucia said with a smile.

Charlotte looked around at all of the people in the class, she wondered if she should partner up with one of her girl friends or go with Airen, Pyxis seemed a little sullen and the rest of the group already had their usual pairs so Charlotte walked over to Air.
"Want to partner up? Again?" she giggled slightly "If so do you want to go first or second for casting the spell?"
Hoping that she wouldn't hurt Airen when she was performing the spell, Charlotte waited expectantly for him to answer her, also hoping that he hadn't planned to pair with another.
