He smiled a little, looking back down to his book. "Nothing can compare to Hogwarts, I don't know what I'd do without it. I'm Parker,a second year Slytherin." He was a bit confused about the whole mentioning of an orphanage and a father, but he assumed she'd just taken amazingly well to being adopted. Which caused him to smile a bit wider. He was glad people had homes where they were loved, he knew far to many unhappy people in Slytherin with bad home lives.

"That's a great gift. She looks like a puppy still, is she in training?" Parker asked curiously as he stood up and went around the table to her side kneeling down next to Yasmina. He reached out to pet her but then pulled his hand back and looked up at Tessa. "Oh, sorry, do you mind if I pet her? I've got this neighbor back home who won't let anyone pet her dog because she said something silly like it's only a service dog and not a pet."

She smiled. “ Yeah I really like it here, I get to still be around my sisters. They are in their second year. “ Hello Parker, I am Tessa. I know a couple of Slytherins. Charlotte, Damien and Corina. They are really nice.” Tessa knew that she was going to have to explain. “ I was put up for adoption at a very early age, and then my father adopted me. He is the Charms professor.”

“ Yasmina has already been trained. And I thought that she was a great gift too.” Tessa laughed a little bit. “ Sure I don't mind if you pet her. I think she is used to it, considering my sisters pet her everytime they see her.” She then blinked. “ I am sure Yasmina won't mind, she is my guide dog.”

"I figured she was, I just wanted to ask, In case." He smiled, petting Yasmina. He never got to have a pet back home, as his dad was allergic to cats and dogs. He liked it here where pretty much everyone had a pet. Though cats or owls was what he typically saw.

"That's great that he did that. Are your sisters adopted too?" He said as he looked back up to her. Maybe it wasn't an appropriate question, Parker wasn't sure though, all he knew was that usually people said adoption was a touchy subject. Why? Parker thought it was great, far better being in a family that loves and accepts you even if not blood related, than one that is neglectful.

He looked back down to Yasmina, patting her head, as he leaned down closer to her nose. "I don't know any of them very well, though Charlotte is very nice. You know, now that I think about it, I don't really know too many people all that well. " He gave a small shrug.

“ Yeah but she helps me around, and that is all that matters.” She could tell that he was enjoying spending time with Yasmina. And she knew that Yasmina was loving all the attention. Tessa knew Yasmina love to make sure that everybody was happy. That is why Tessa loved her, and knew that everybody who saw her like her too.

Tessa smiled. “ Yeah it was great that he did that, and yes both of my sisters are adopted. One is from Ravenclaw and the other Hufflepuff.” She didn't mind that he was asking her question, but she could tell that he thought that it might be a touchy subject. But she was still smiling.

She then started to pet Yasmina. “ I meet Charlotte over the summer. She was actually my first friend. I know someone that you should meet. Leshia, she is an awesome friend.”

Parker was still sat cross legged beside Yasmina, scratching under her chin then touching her wet nose with a smile. Parker thought that both Tessa and Yasmina were nice, and made a mental note to try to talk to more Gryffindors, and thought it strange how different people were in the houses.

When Tessa reached to pet Yasmina as well, Parker looked back up at her. I talked to her a bit last year, I wish I talked with her more nowadays, she's nice. A lot of people here are nice actually. I''m just not exactly...outgoing when it comes to talking with people though.

Tessa was smiling. Yasmina then started to lick Parker's hand. “ I can tell she likes you.” She hoped that she was making a good impression for the Gryffindor house. But she was sure that she was doing a good job.

“ That is awesome, I found out a lot of people are nice around here. I mainly talk to the people in my classes.” She then grinned. “ If you want I can come up here and hang out with you more often, that way you don't get lonely. And I know that I have to keep up my grades.”

Parker smiled, holding his hand for Yasmina to lick. "I like her too. She's nice. Soft too."

"Used to talk to people more, but this year everyone's all caught up with all sorts of drama that i don't understand. It makes me dread the next few year, cause the drama will only get worse." He rolled his eyes good-naturedly. and then looked back up at her when she proposed the idea of meeting in the library more often, "Oh, uhm, only if you want- " He smiled, a bit embarrassed, he didn't want to make it seem as if he was desperate to talk to people, he often enjoyed time alone, but spending time with such nice people was always nice. "And maybe...if you ever want help with studying, I could help?"

Tessa smiled. She could tell Parker was happy.

She grinned, she didnt' have much drama in her life. And thought that it would and could get worse over the years. "That would be awesome, I always take help when someone offers it to me. That was I am not running to my sisters all the time to help me on my homework or to even study."

"Well, studying's good. I usually look up books that are kinda related to what we learned, so I get more of a background, or similar information to help me understand better. Being muggleborn, half the time in class, I get a bit lost, so I want to make up for what I miss." He shrugged standing back up again and giving a final pat on Yasmina's head before going to take his seat again.

"I guess you could say I'm a bit of a bookworm, or nerd." He gave a small smile and chuckle along with another shrug as he closed his one book and opened another.

Tessa agreed with Parker. “ Well I have to keep up with the good grades. To show that I can do it cause I am blind.” She was smiling a little bit. “ That is why I took a lot of classes, well not just to show that I can do it. But because I love to learn something new everyday. If you don't that day is just a wasted day.” She could understand about getting lost, in potions it was like she was lost the whole time.

“ Being a bookworm isn't all that bad.” Tessa let out a small laugh. “ It just means that you like to read all the time.”

"Yeah, it's the same for me. There's a lot of people who don't think I can be as good as them cause of my blood status, but I'm here to prove them wrong." he smiled, feeling a bit of a connection with her. They both were out to prove their worth, and while it may be hard at times, it would definitely be worth it in the long run.

He nodded in agreement at what she said, then got a bit flustered, realizing she couldn't see him nod. "Yeah- That's true." He thought if only it were that simple, because there were rude people out there that made fun of those that liked to learn, like the kids in his neighborhood back home. They didn't know anything. "There's nothing more satisfying then learning something entirely new, it's like it opens up a whole new world of possibilities."

Tessa smiled. “ I don’t' even know my blood status.” She then paused. “ For a while I had no idea that I was a witch.” That was the truth, but she loved growing up muggle. It only made her love the wizarding world a lot more. She wouldn't have changed it for the world.

She could tell that he was getting flustered. “ I know that I read a lot.” There was some girls at the orphange that would pick on her, but that stop after her big brother who took her under his wings, beat them up for her.

"That's probably good though, most people won't have prejudices against or for you. " he shrugged. "I didn't know until I got my acceptance letter. A really shocker for me parents and I, I'll say." he smiled a bit, but his expression dropped a bit remembering the strange ways his parents sometimes acted around him the past summer.

Parker glanced up again from his book to her book set before her. "So what book is that?"

Tessa smiled. “ I guess you are right about that, but it is weird not knowing my blood status. Because it seems like you are pureblood, half blood or muggle born. And I don't know where I belong.” She then sighed. “ And after I think about it makes me feel like I don't belong to anything.”

“ She then blinked. “ Oh it is The Secret Garden.”

He shrugged. "Well those things really shouldn't matter, I mean, we are all here to learn, aren't we?" He looked at her feeling a little bit sad, sometimes he didn't feel like he belonged, being a muggleborn surrounded by purebloods whom often had something nasty to say about the world he grew up in. "Well you do belong. You're a hogwarts student, a Gryffindor."

He then looked down to her book. "Secret Garden? I'venever read it, but I've heard of it. Is it any good?"

Tessa smiled. “ Yeah you are right, we are her to learn.” She hated it that she really didn't fit any where. But she tried her best. “ Yeah I guess I do belong, I now I am a Gryffindor. And I don't think the hat made a mistake putting me in that house.”

“ Yes I love this book, it have to be one of my favorites. I would say that you could read my copy. But it is in braille.”

He smiled a bit, though there was a hint of sadness. "Well that's good...sometimes I feel like it made a mistake with me. I'm glad I'm in my house...but everyone is so different from me."

He took a closer too at the book, having noticed it wasn't normal the moment he sat down. "It's fine. I'm sure I could find it. Hey, uhm, Is it hard to read Braille?"

Tessa smiled. “ I don't think it made a mistake, I think that maybe it wanted you to make a change in that house. To show everybody that Slytherins house isn't just purebloods, but half bloods and muggle born can belong there. I believe it chose you for a reason, that you are a natural leader.” She then wondered if she made him feel any better.

“ Well I don't think braille is that hard. But I been using it since I learned how to read. It is just bumps on a page.”

He nodded, feeling a little bit better. "Yeah...I suppose. And I do have ambition, so..." he let out a small chuckle. "I'm no leader though."

He moved his hand forward a bit, finding himself curious. To be able to differentiate the bumps must have been hard, you'd definitely have to train to be able to feel all the difference."Erm. you mind if I feel it?"

Tessa was smiling because she knew that she made him feel a little bit better. “ See I think that is what the hat saw in you.” She then started to think a little bit. “ Some leaders are natural born and others are made.”

She smiled. “ Sure I don't mind if you have a feel.” Tessa then handed him her book.

He smiled and nodded. "Well I guess we'll just have to see. We still have quite a few years ahead of us."

He took the book as she slid it over to him and he turned it around, running his finger over the bumps. HE found it really interesting and wondered how hard it would be to learn.

"It is sort of interesting to think how everyone'll turn out in a few years, isn't it?" He turned a few more pages, keeping Tessa's place as he moves his fingers over them a bit too.

He turned back to the page she was on and turned it back around, moving it back to her. "That's really cool...I have a feeling my fingers would hurt after only a fe minutes though, he smiled a bit."

"Yeah, I wonder about myself too..." He hoped he wouldn't change all that much, as he was pretty happy with who he was already, but one never knows what the future holds. And anything could happen.

He handed the book back to her. "Oh, no, they don't. But I just mean, from running them over all the bumps, since I'm not used to it, It would make them feel a bit weird."
