Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
Airen nodded his head at Charlotte. Having read about the aging potion, he knew this would be a touchy subject with her. He hoped that she was wrong. He'd find a way to help her.
"I'd love to," he said. He nodded his head. He started prepping the ingredients. Their banana, thankfully, had only three small dark spots on it. He quickly removed those and chopped the rest into small cubes. He ground the fangs into a fine powder. Stepping back, he gestured with his hands to the prepped ingredients, indicating for her to go first.
"I'd be interested to see what I'll look like as un vecchio (an old man). Thankfully, the future is always changing," he said softly to her, trying to give her hope that her future wasn't certain.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
Victoria was relieved that her and Tess hadn't added the other ingredients yet. If they had put them in the order on the board, who knows if it would have screwed it all up. She pulled out an old thermometer that she had borrowed from her old science class, to use at the right time. 239 degrees Fahrenheit...115 degrees Celsius. Ok.
The sugar was right on the mark and looked to be a great texture, so she added in the snake ingredients and stirred. It was a beautiful bright green. Not a lime color, but a natural green like dewy grass on a sunny day.
Then the leaves. The potion turned another green. One that made her think of pine trees. She felt oddly at home in the class now, with the comforting colors of nature.
Turning to Tess she said, "Want to do the rest? I'll test the sugar after you add the banana." She knew she had done a lot of the potion, and wanted Tess to get a chance to do the rest. Sometimes her excitement for new things got in the way.

Haley made an 'ops' expression and then grinned at Zara.
"Let's start over again," she said and then washed the cauldron, adding the sugar and firing it up again, and then waited for Zara to add the snake ingredients.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
He made it back to their cauldron with the ingredients and sat down, placing them in front of them. The two then set to preparing them. Parker was happily swinging his feet as they worked together to cover the peel, take out the dark spots and cut the rest of the banana up as well as to crush the snake fangs. Parker was setting them out in the order of the list, and looked up at professor Valentine as she was walking around and then began to tell them the next steps.
As she was about to start to tell them the steps, Parker quickly rifled through his bag, grabbing out a scrap parchment and a quill and wrote down the instructions. He didn't want to get something wrong. He felt like he was finally getting a hang of this. And he really, really loved it. He knew that if he wanted to be a healer he'd have to be good with potions.
With their sugar now heated, Parker was sure to keep his eye on it so that they didn't have to start over. He took the measurement of the snake fang powder, putting it into the cauldron, making sure it all got in. He then took the snake skin, carefully and slowly dropping it into the hot sugar. He definitely did not want terrible, sticky burns. The potion then took on the bright green colour the professor had described and he smiled brightly, now grabbing for the leaves and thorns. It became the dark green that the professor described at well. This was going brilliantly so far.
Bringing up the whole temperature conversion, Parker frowned. It took him a while to figure out the conversion, carefully keeping his eyes on the potion. When he got it, he carefully adjusted it to the right temperature. The colour became yellow and then he and Pxyis went to putting in the drops from the vials, being very careful to be exact and not mess it up now that they've come this far.
With the final drop of the prune juice, the potion developed into a beautiful purple hue. He grinned brightly at Pxyis, sighing out in satisfaction to have finally gotten a potion right!

Tabi had gotten every thing going with the potion. Once again Ivano flaked out on potions, Tabi finished up the potion and when it took the proper purple color she bottle it up and waited to leave.
Usually Tabi loved potions, she was wanting to become a potions mistress but until her sister was better she just felt like something was missing.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
Tess began to do the conversion in her head and smiled seeing that Victoria had done the conversion correctly on paper. She saw her work meticulously and was glad that she wasn't stuck with someone who wasn't as enthusiastic as herself.
Once Victoria gave her the okay to do something, she moved in front of the cauldron and placed the thermometer. Seeing that it was the perfect temperature, she began to place the bananas carefully into the cauldron. They began to immediately begin to melt into the hot sugar and she moved it hoping to get it to mix properly.
Seeing the perfect temperature, she began to pick up the vials carefully. She might have been clumsy in many things, but potion was not one of them. She carefully picked up the first vial and took out the dropper and picked up the snake venom vial. She knew that it was dangerous to even get it on your skin, for a simple ingestion and you would be poisoned. She slipped the dropper into the venom and picked up a little bit. Dropping it carefully she counted them in her head.
One....two....three
Soon she finished that she mixed the cauldron once more to get it to mix in well enough. Soon she picked up the pink vial. Ah, the love potion. She picked up a brand new dropper, considering she didn't want to taint the vials, and collected a little bit.
One...two...perfect
The pink liquid began to make it a different hue and she smiled seeing that it was like the Professor had described it. Lastly she picked up the prune juice and wrinkled her nose.
How will this help with taste? she wondered.
Nonetheless, she picked up the last clean dropper and picked up a small amount, dropping it into the cauldron. She mixed and mixed trying not to get the sugar to solidify and she smile satisfactory as it had turned into a royal purple-ish color.
Lifting her head to Victoria she let out a wide smile, seeing that they'd done a good job.

Zara giggled at their mistake. "Oopsies. No worries" she said, helping Haley clean up the cauldron to start agai
Without wasting any time, Zara began crushing another snake fang for the new potion.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
When the potion Zara and Haley made finally turned to its rightful purple color when they finished, Haley grinned at her.
"We managed after all," she said contentedly.
Then she poured some of it into a flask and waited for the professor to continue or end the class.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
Keiba hadn't had a partner for the potion, but she was managing just fine. She was up to the pink vile, and carefully added it to the potion, counting each drop as it went in. One, two, three... she lifted the vile and re-corked it, picking up the prune juice one. Keiba didn't like prunes, anyway... but she'd live, it was part of the potion.
After she'd finished with the purple vile, the potion turned the way it was supposed to. She grinned. It turned a lovely swirling purple shade, and so she switched off the heat and spooned it into a flask, like Haley and Zara had done. Keiba was eager to get to see what she looked like as an older person; that would be so awesome.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
Looking at the time, she frowned seeing that they were running out of time.
"Now students, we have but a few minutes to try out the potions before class runs out. I'd like for you to show trust in your partners, or in some cases I see yourself, and take half those thin vials and fill it up to three ounces. Then you will try it"
She looked around seeing if they were working.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
Keiba filled up half of her vials to exactly three ounces, concentrating hard because she knew she had a shaky hand when it came to these things. Excited, she raised one to her lips and sipped, feeling a sort of rippling sensation through her body.
She looked around the room, not feeling very different. Although, everything seemed to be a little shorter than before... had she gotten taller? She bit her lip, Keiba hoped so. She was still kinda short.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
Tess smiled seeing that the potion was now done. She picked up two vials and filled them up exactly to three ounces.
"Here you go" she said handing one to Victoria.
Picking up her own, she took the drink immediately.
Ugh it tastes like grapes she thought.
She then felt her body tingling all over and she closed her eyes. She began to get a bit taller, up to her height 5'5 and she smiled seeing how different she looked. Her hair had grown longer and finer and she felt over all different in a way she couldn't explain it.
"Come on Victoria" she said.
She noticed her voice was lighter and she smiled noticing the change.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
Excited that they seemed to have gotten the potion right, Victoria took the vial Tess handed her. Seeing her down it, she muttered, "Bottoms up," and downed her own.
The feeling wasn't bad, just slightly uncomfortable. She could feel herself growing quite a few inches. Thank Merlin for skirts and robes! Or else they may have all been in trouble in the clothing department.
As she looked over at the older Tess, she smiled, seeing that she was definitely older, but that it wasn't a bad look. She still looked very much the same, just more...refined. Yeah. That's a good word.

Re: Lesson Two: Second Years
Tess smiled seeing that Victoria was getting older. Seems that both would be gifted by puberty rather than punished.
"Well aren't we old hags" she teased.
Walking over towards the front, she grabbed the blue vial that Professor Valentine had put up front, that returned them to their normal age. She grabbed two once more and handed one to Victoria.
Before taking a gulp, she looked down at herself and sighed knowing that it would be missed. In a few years she would look like this and so, she took the sip and once more returned to her normal age. Her robes fit better and she felt her skirt wasn't so tight. She sighed and looked at the still adult Victoria.

Haley smiled to Zara and then drank three ounces. She then noticed a change in her body as something weird happened. She shot up, reaching at least 5'4 inches. Her hair grew longer and, if possible, redder.
She grinned. "How do I look?" she asked curiously.
