Potions Lesson One - Third Years
Evangeline, for some unknown reason even to herself had been asked to be a subsitite teacher for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as they were very understaffed, and she sighed as she merely sat down at the desk that was provided and looked out over the cauldrons.
The fact she knew almost next to nothing about potions was something that the Headmistress didn't seem to mind about. Looking over the book that had been left, Evangeline's expression stayed it's same stoic manner and she merely waited for the students to come into the classroom.
Most of the time children didn't really like her, she had always put it down to the fact she was a reaper...but now she supposed she would find out. It turned out that today the students would be learning about;
'Calming Draught'

Re: Potions Lesson One - Third Years
Marylin walked into her lesson and she raised her eyebrows at the rather strange professor that was now sat behind the desk, she didn't really care much about her however, except the rather strange feeling that she seemed to eminate from her through the rest of the classroom, Marylin couldn't exactly put her finger on what it was.
With a small sigh she sat down and then took out her books and quill, flipping her hair behind her shoulders and pressing her lips together, making a small 'plip' noise as her lipgloss rubbed together.
Wondering what they would be learning about today and if she would be able to learn something she didn't know already, Marylin waited for the lesson to begin.

Re: Potions Lesson One - Third Years
Nicholas walked into the potions lesson and almost walked out again for getting the wrong room because the teacher was one he'd never even seen before. But a glance at Marylin told him that he was actually in the right class. Smirking slightly before putting on his happy mask, Nicholas sat down beside her at a desk,
"Hey there Marylin! Oh and hi teach!" he greeted both Marylin and the substitute brightly before rolling his eyes so that only Marylin could see.

Re: Potions Lesson One - Third Years
Evangeline blinked at the two students in her class and she prompty turned to the board, beginning to write down the method for the brewing of the potion that they are going to be brewing in todays class, she thought that potions was quite a popular class by the turn out to each lesson.
"I am Evangeline Webb, I have been instructed to cover your potions lessons until further notice, today you are brewing a claming draught, the method is now on the board, the ingredients are on the desk at the front of the room. You may begin."
'Ingredients;
3 Cups of Lavender Oil
2 Sprigs of freshly cut grass
1 Pinch of Stardust
1 Lock of a Siren's Hair
Base Potion
1. Add the base potion to the cauldron, heat the cauldron on a low simmer, this is the temperature it must be kept at and it must not rise above a simmer.
2. Then add the cups of lavender oil, making sure the potion turns a light purple colour once they have been added.
3. The stardust must then be added, followed by a tap of the wand to the cauldron, and three stirs of the potion clockwise, these must be stirred slowly, and not in fast jerky motions.
4. The lock of Siren's hair must be added next, it should emit a small singing sound when it is dissolved into the potion, you must wait until this sound has occured before moving on.
5. Finally add the sprigs of grass, which will colour the potion green, once this has occured, take the potion off the heat and place in a vial.'

Re: Potions Lesson One - Third Years
Marylin added the base potion to the cauldron, and heated the cauldron on a low simmer, this is the temperature ensuring that it did not rise above a simmer.
Then she added the cups of lavender oil, making sure the potion turns a light purple colour once they have been added. The stardust was a very interesting ingredient, and Marylin had never used it before, however she placed in in the mix followed by a tap of the wand to the cauldron, and stirred the potion clockwise three times, slowly, and calmly.
The lock of Siren's hair must be added next, Marylin read, placing it into the potion she waited until it had given off the sound of a small scale of singing, meaning that it had been properly dissolved. Marylin them embarked on the last step of the potion adding the sprigs of grass, which coloured the potion green, once this had occured, she took the potion off the heat and placed it in a vial.

Re: Potions Lesson One - Third Years
Evangeline sighed gently, the girl was good at making potions and she knew that she would have to give her lots of housepoints because she had been so thorough in her making, however she knew that the boy in her class was not going to get any points....doing no work at all.
Looking at the time, Evangeline saw it was the end of the lesson and she smiled gently at the girl;
"25 points to Slytherin house for a well made potion, thank you for your attention this lesson, and the class is now dismissed."
