Potions Lesson One - Third Years Empty Potions Lesson One - Third Years

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:27 pm

Raven tapped the metal of her razor on the harsh wood of her desk, of course there were already many different slashes and gashes in the wood because of the treatement that she had given the desk over the course of the years that she had been teaching at Durmstrang, the various stabs and cuts she had dealt it.

Flicking her eyes up to the door, she waited to see if there would be any students coming through the door on time, maybe they would finally arrive in the classroom and she could begin the lesson, however, she knew from experience that this was not likely to happen.

Scratched on the board was the lesson plan for today, Ravens fingers still bleeding at the nails from where she had scratched it on herself, sucking some of the blood off her palm, Raven smirked wickedly.

Potions Lesson One - Third Years Empty Re: Potions Lesson One - Third Years

Christielle hurriedly entered the classroom, making sure not to make such a horrible mess that would make Lehrer Drake shout at her - or even throw a razor at her. She mumbled a 'good morning, professor' and sat on her usual seat.

She looked up at the board. Luckily she knew what Garroting Gas was. Another thing she didn't like was a detention right at the first lesson, early in the morning.

Christi looked around. Lars wasn't there. He was usually the first one to arrive in class.

Raven got up and threw a gas mask to the student who was in her lesson, then tapping the board, the ingredients appeared there;

2 Runespoor Eggs
3 drops of Asp Venom
2 Porcupine Quills
2 teaspoons of powered aconite
1 frogs brain

Instructions;

1. Finely chop the runespoor eggs, make sure that they are diced into centimetre measurements or there about, add them to a base potion that you should have brought from home.
2. Place this on heat, making sure it is of a medium temperature.
3. Add the porcupine quills one at a time, making sure to rotate the potion as you do so, the potion should begin to give off some mild fumes, this is normal.
4. Make sure that you mash the frogs brain in the pestle and mortar, add this to the potion and wait until it turns a green colour.
5. Add the drops of asps venom all at once, making sure that the potion gives off the desired hiss afterwards, do not proceed until this has happened.
6. Turn down the heat of the potion and then add the teaspoons of powdered aconite, take off the heat and put into a bottle.

The fumes are what the gas masks are needed for, please ensure you have these on when step two is completed.

"Today we will be making Garotting Gas. It will knock you out if you breathe any in, so be sure that around step three people who are late take care not to breathe anything in. Begin."

Christi caught the gas mask and placed it on her desk. She took the ingredients and organized them carefully on her desk before starting. She took the base potion from her bag and started.

She carefully chopped the runespoor eggs to the right size. When she finished, she added them to the base potion. Christi looked up at the board for the next instruction. She placed it on a medium temperature. She put the gas mask on as she was about to begin with the third step.

She took two of the porcupine quills and added them one by one, rotating the potion at the same time. Mild fumes were starting to appear.

Christi took the frogs brain and mashed it on the mortar and pestle, adding it to the potion afterwards. The potion turned green this time. She looked up at the board for the next step. She added thee 3 drops of asp venom, waiting for the following hiss. The hiss came, and she proceeded with the next step.

Christi lowered the heat and added the 2 teaspoons of powdered aconite. She finally took off the heat, placed it in a bottle, and gave it to Lehrer Drake.
