Potions Lesson One - Fourth Years

[Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake]

Raven tapped the metal of her razor on the harsh wood of her desk, of course there were already many different slashes and gashes in the wood because of the treatement that she had given the desk over the course of the years that she had been teaching at Durmstrang, the various stabs and cuts she had dealt it.

Flicking her eyes up to the door, she waited to see if there would be any students coming through the door on time, maybe they would finally arrive in the classroom and she could begin the lesson, however, she knew from experience that this was not likely to happen.

Scratched on the board was the lesson plan for today, Ravens fingers still bleeding at the nails from where she had scratched it on herself, sucking some of the blood off her palm, Raven smirked wickedly.

'Hate Potion'

As Annika walked into the Potions class for the first time this semester she was just a little apprehensive. She hadn't had time to really study her notes and potions from last semester. Her summer had been busy babysitting the twins and helping Oma with the drying of the vegetables for the winter. She so hoping someone else would already be there so she didn't have to be alone.

Looking around she found that her wish had not been granted this time. Taking a deep breathe she nodded to the professor and took her seat. When she noticed the title of the today's lesson her heart fell through the floor. She had heard of this spells affects and it was, in her mind, totally frightening.

Raven looked at the studentsin her class, with a small change to her smile, she let it drop and she shook her head to clear her thoughts from her mind. Now was not the time to think of ripping someones arm off and beating them with it, no indeed.

"This potion reveals the worst faults and habits of the target person to the drinker, this is why it is called the hate potion as it normally makes people hate the one the faults are found in." with a smirk Raven tapped the board "Can you tell me an ingredient?"

Looking quickly through her parchments a
annika slightly smiled to herself. "Well, Miss, I know there are lace wing fly wings, and flobberworms. I don't remember the whole thing though. It's not one I used in the past, so I kinda forgot some." Hoping this would help her keep things smooth and some one else would show up she could work with she watched 'the Sweeney' for her reaction.

Raven nodded her head and she was surprised that one of her students had actually read up on the potions that they would be studying in todays class, and looked like they had actually bothered to make notes on it as well.

"Ten points to Geschick for a correct answer, flobberworm pus is one of the ingredients that is used in this potion." she nodded her head before tapping the board, and with a large scratching noise, she method for the potion wrote itself on the board.

''Ingredients;

Bat Wings (6)
Boomslang Skin (3 Pounds)
Flobberworm Pus (1 Cup)
Asp Venom (3 Drops)
Nettles (2)
Base Potion

1. Add the base potion to a cold cauldron, then add the flobberworm pus while the potion is still unheated, stir in the pus and then put the cauldron on a low heat.
2. When this is done add the boomslang skin, one pound at a time, then wait until the potion changes colour to a dark purple.
3. The two nettles must be added next, be careful to use gloves when adding these, the potion must then be stirred 8 times counter clockwise.
4. After this, add two bats wings, followed by one drop of asps venom, you should see the potion change colour each time you repeat this step until it turns a black colour and stays this way.
5. Heat the potion for a further two minutes before leaving to cool entirely.'

"Please complete this potion in your own time, as homework, and I wish to see your efforts next lesson.Class dismissed."

Annika took her list of ingredients with her as she went into the supply closet to gather them up. What luck to have homework tonight. Well, if her notes were accurate it shouldn't take all night and she could still get an owl off to her parents.

Her biggest worry was that she would drop or spill it and thus not have it for next class. But then, so far she'd been lucky and so she put on a clam face and tried on to worry about it.

"Miss, do I bring it when it is finished or not until next class?" She ask as she arrainged the items in her satchel.
