Potions Lesson Two - Fifth Years

Evangeline was once again sat in the office that she had been given by Briony, it was strange the way that she had been asked yet again to come and cover for potions, she was so sure that when she started talking about where all the students friends were now residing in the afterlife...she would not be asked back.

With a small sigh she waited for the students to arrive and she wondered how many she was going to get showing up today, she thought that none of them would likely turn up, but then again they might decide to get themselves here.

On the board in her neat and small writing, the potion they were brewing today was written;

'Strengthening Solution'

Humphrey walked into Potions, and noticed that they had the same sub as last week. She was definitely a bit different from the norm, but he didn't really mind. He had a small headache already, hopefully it wouldn't get worse as the day wore on.

Taking his seat, he got out some of the supplies and set it on his desk. "Hello professor, how are you?" he asked. She seemed like a nice enough sort, if a bit odd.

[Airen Auditoren]

Airen walked into the classroom calmly, he had been having a very good year so far, and he hoped for it to stay that way. He nodded his head at Humphrey, who he had hoped to improve relations with. Airen had been a little cold to him since the whole fiasco four years ago, so it was time for a change.

"Salve, Profesore (Hello, Professor)" Airen greeted as he took his seat. at the front of the classroom.

Charlotte hurried into the classroom and she smiled gently when she saw Evangeline once more, what with the war going on you could never be sure that you were going to see the same faces in the class when you returned to it the following week.

Saddened by this depressing though Charlotte walked slowly to her normal seat by Airen and smiled gently, before taking out her parchment and quill, wondering if anyone else would come in, Charlotte waited for the professor to speak once more.

Evangeline, when she heard the students greeting her, was very surprised, but on the outside she kept the same stoic expression as normal, in fact she merely nodded to what the people said to her for the time being, until she was sure no other students were entering the classroom.

Standing up she wrote the ingredients and method on the board, ready for the students to begin brewing their potions;

"Greetings, today we will be brewing the strengthening solution, it is handy to have a vial with you when you are in battle situations, or to drink it just beforehand. Ingredients are at the front, you may begin."

'Ingredients

Powdered Griffin Claw
Salamander Blood
Extract of Iron
Unicorn Tail Hair
Base Potion

1. Heat the potion on a moderate heat for 5 minutes, then you must add the extract of iron first, in order to turn the potion a grey colour, once it has done so, stir the cauldron five times clockwise in a slow movement.
2. The salamander blood must be added next, do this in a cautious fashion as when added to heat it can react in an explosive fashion, add it gradually to the mix.
3. Once this is done, turn up the cauldron to a high heat and add the unicorn tail hair, tap the cauldron once with your wand to infuse the potion with magic, which will dissolve the tail hair.
4. The powdered griffin claw must be added next, do this all at once and not gradually. Once this is done take the potion off the heat and place into vials.'
