Sanctuary? (After the Inferi Post, Open)

Charlotte lead the students into the common room after speaking the password, the journey had been blissfully quiet as most of the professors were busy with the German invaders, it was something that she felt proud of, making sure that everyone had gotten here alright.

She knew however it was not her doing and she moved into the common room, waiting until the last student was in again before shutting the door firmly and biting her lip, now all there was left to do was wait.

"Uhm, I don't really know how to make any food or water but there should be some in the dorms if anybody needs some."

Smiling slightly Charlotte sat down on the floor, someone else could have the comfy armchairs and sofa's she didn't mind at all.

"Is everyone okay? Nobodies hurt?"

Haley was shocked, but she made sure everyone was with her. Still, she was terrified. She hadn't seen Parker since he said what he said about drama.

"I'm okay," she mumbled as Charlotte asked.

Tabi couldn't believe what was going on. Everything seemed like it was falling apart.

She followed the group of them into the common room like they were asked and she just wondered what was next.

"I am doing ok, for now I think. Wow, I hope everything is ok."

(((OCC..it is hard to keep up when everyone moves so fast. can't even get my thought typed before something else happens.)))

Humphrey was furious, everybody had told him that he was being a jerk, but he was being a jerk so they would be ready for an attack like the one that had just happened. But no, they had convinced him to relax, and the moment he did they were attacked. Now Professor Slytherin and Healer Henley had a hostage situation to deal with. That is what he had been trying to prepare them for! He should have trusted his battle instincts. "That is why I was trying to prevent from happening." he said calmly. "I was coming across as a jerk I knew but we can grieve later. Right now we have to be prepared to defend ourselves! I am a Gryffindor for a reason, in battle I don't shy away. Now, unlike most of you here, I am well-versed in battle strategy and can actually coordinate a defense in case we are attacked. However, we are a group. And the group needs to decide who should lead them. I nominate myself for one of the candidates. Would anybody else want to lead us?" he asked the rest of the students.

Haley was officially pissed at Humphrey. He was being a complete douche.

"I don't want to lead, but I nominate either Airen or Charlotte to lead us," she said, glaring at Humphrey.

If she hurt him with those words, it was nothing to her at the moment. He had hurt her with his words. Payback's a bitch an all that. Because Haley was seriously furious at Humphrey.

Tabi had enough of this guy, who did he think he was, with everything going on she knew she was just going to blow.

"You sit there and brag about all of these things that you know, but you claim to be a muggleborn. How can a simple ol muggleborn be everything that your claiming to be. Most muggleborns do not even realize that they are magic until they are 11. So how is it you can do everything you claim to do?"

Tabi was just fuming at this point.

"How do we even know we can trust you, for all we know everything you have told us could be a lie and your just a spy"

Tabi just spatted out at this kid.

"So NO I do not want you to lead us."

Humphrey simply nodded. He knew she was angry with him. "I vote for myself, but if I had to choose somebody else, I would vote for Airen. He is a swordmage, and probably the deadliest student here." he said. Humphrey felt Haley's words cut into him, but he knew that her disposition and personality were too kind and nice to be able to handle battle. He had not expected her to be as tough as he was. "Oh, and Airen. I've always thought you were a good leader, I know we've had our differences but, if you are chosen to lead...I'll follow you no matter what you decide. Gryffindor for the House Cup!" he exclaimed. Trying to pull a smile out of somebody in the room, as well as show them he wasn't scared. Even though he was terrified.

"I am a muggleborn, or mudblood as you might put it, but I started teaching myself before I cam"e to Hogwarts. Unlike wizards, Muggles educate their kids starting at age four or five. I studied history, and always played close attention to the battles. I have read Napoleon's strategies, and memorized his brilliance at each battle in Europe. Even wizards know Napoleon was a Muggle who nearly took over Europe. I also memorized all of my course books near perfectly before coming here. As well as gotten second and third year level books to study so I wouldn't be a defenseless first year. I taught myself how to become an Animagus without any help. I can turn into a Hippogriff right now and fly around the room if you want me to prove it. And as for whether or not you can trust me. Either ask Charlotte, Airen, Leshia, Salina Girard-Prewett, or Pxyis. They can all vouch for me." he said.

Lucia charged into the common room. "Is everyone all right?!" she demanded.

Then she stopped. They were all looking very tense.

"What's going on? If this is about walking back out into the battle, then forget about it. I've closed off the hall. No one in or out except me, until I decide so. Now, which students are missing that aren't in their own respective common rooms?" Lucia asked, breathing quickly.

"So far only Tabi, Charlotte, Haley, and myself. I was trying to tell them we needed to pick somebody to organize us a defense in case we were attacked. Now that you are here, though...you will lead us. At least, I sure hope so. What do you say?" he asked her.

Lucia smiled. "Aha, I see. I have no intentions of leaving you unless I am called by the headmistress or someone else in need of my help. As for defense, I will put up a series of protection spells, don't worry about that. But I need you all to stay in one place at all times. Can you do that for me?" she asked them all.

Then she drew her wand. "Expecto Patronum," she said, and the silver griffin burst from the tip of her wand. "Find Jaqui and Cobalt. Tell them to summon me through a patronus if something is the matter. Then go to the kitchen. Say that the Slytherin common room is in need of a bit to chew on," she told the griffin which vanished.

She then turned to them all with a small smile. "Everything is going to be okay, don't worry. We'll be all right," she said calmly, "Now, go sit down while we wait for the House-elves to get us some food."

Leshia was trying to understand what was going on, one minute they were running from the trophy room and then the next she is listening to Tabi yell at Humphrey and accusing him of things.

"Calm down Tabi, it will be alright." Just as Leshia was trying to calm down Tabi, Healer Henley ran into the room.

"Well Humphrey, now that Healer Henley is here she will be in charge, argument finished." Leshia said calmly.

"Agreed. I was going to step down as soon as I saw her enter. Tabi, I have plenty of reasons, and some of them are not for everybody to know about. But know that I am not your average muggleborn, and was a registered animagus before coming to Hogwarts. I had also memorized the course books for first year, as well as most of the second year course books. So before you say I don't know what I'm doing get your facts straight. "Wow, Healer Henley, I didn't know you had a Hippogriff Patronus. Can you teach me how to modify mine so I can send messages with it too." he asked her.

Lucia was wondering about what on earth had been going on between the students, but figured that now was not the time to ask questions. A loud crack was heard, that made Lucia turn with her wand at the ready, even if it was impossible to apparate or disapparate within the gates of Hogwarts.

However, Lucia relaxed when house elves came walking in. They carried trays of food and drinks. Lucia smiled to them, and even though the students might be too rattled to eat or drink at the moment, it was nice to have the option.

"Thank you," she said to the elves with a big smile. They all beamed at her before vanishing with another crack.

Lucia then turned to the fireplace. "Incendio," she said and flames burst from the tip of her wand and lit the wood. She then put a protection spell on the shackles of the fireplace, only letting the smoke pass through, but nothing to come in.

"Protego maxima," Lucia then said, pointing at the common room entrance and repeated the spell several times. Then she ended with saying "Protego totalum" a couple of times.

Then she turned to the students. "I know you might not be hungry right now, but you need to eat, if only it is one bite. If someone should be able to penetrate my charms, then we're gonna need the strength we have. Do you understand? This is about the worst case scenario that we need to be prepared for, no matter what. All right? So, please eat something," Lucia said, hoping the fact of battle would also make them aware of the seriousness of energyloss.

Lucia smiled at Humphrey as he asked about the patronus. "I don't have a hippogriff, Mr. Williams. I have a griffin. They are quite different animals. Neither can you modify your patronus. It will take the shape of the animal you love the most. If that is a hippogriff, it will become a hippogriff. And if it isn't sharp enough, it only means you have to practice and focus more on your happy memories," she told him with a soft voice.

"Oh, I thought it looked a little weird. That explains it. And I was asking about modifying it by making it speak, I can make a full-fledged Patronus but can't make it talk. Expecto Patronum!" he said loudly, and the Hippogriff burst from his wand and illuminated the room in a strong silver light. "Thank you so much for the food, Healer Henley!" he yelled, and his Patronus vanished. He started grabbing a little bit of everything. He was absolutely starved.

Tabi didn't care what this guy said she still didn't trust me no matter what he said. She looked around the room and went over to the table that was set up by the elves.

She made herself a plate and went and sat over to the side thinking to herself so in other words she was going to be talking to Leshia.

"Leshia can I talk to you for a minute?" Tabi was wondering if she would stay over where she was or if she would come over to her.

Tears of frustration fell down her face. They had left them behind! Victoria was in a shock, and Tess had no choice but to pull her towards the Common room. Their dresses weighed them down and she fell once more with Victoria beside her.

Slipped her wand out she pointed towards the doors, now a few feet away from her.

"Expecto....E-Expecto Patronum!" She called out.

A wisp of a clear light exited her wand, but soon as she thought of the happiest memory she could think of, it began to transform. She tried not to be sad, she tried anything to make her happy, and so when she opened her eyes she saw a large fox before her.

"Call for help, I need help to carry her...tell Healer Henly" she rasped out. "or anyone, send my message of wanting help please"

The Patronus seemed to understand and rushed off, towards the doors. It tried many times trying to cross the protection charm, and just when she was about to give up hope, it entered.
Sighing in relief, she looked down at the girl, her eyes were now closed, and she looked unconscious.

"We're almost there" she whispered to her.

"Healer Henley, can I please go to help carry her. Victoria is very, very important to me. I promise I won't fight anybody. Please, please." Humphrey had listened to the talking Patronus and was shocked that a first year knew the Patronus Charm and how to make it talk. He didn't even know that any first years could cast even a partial patronus.

Leshia had been over in the room talking to Haley, it felt really weird to be sitting in the Slytherin common room. She was really worried about where Salina and Corrine were. She was really not trying to dwell on it.

Leshia was really glad that Healer Henley showed up when she did because she was not sure what was going to happen between Humphrey and Tabi.

Leshia was finishing up what she was saying when she heard..

"Leshia can I talk to you for a minute?"

Leshia knew that voice in here head all too well.

"I will be there in a few moments" Leshia said back

Leshia was on her way over when she heard a big commotion and then saw Victoria and Tess on the floor.

With the whole fiasco back at the Great Hall, Parker had frozen in utter terror, watching everything happen as if he wasn't even really there, like a terrible slow-motion scene from a muggle movie, as Pxyis guarded him and pulled him along, though they had been separated by the groups and he had no clue where he was supposed to go. He heard someone yelling about a Trophy room but didn't find it, soon he was alone. Instead of trying to find it, being close to the battle, he'd been running down and around the corridors as fast as he could, not completely aware of what was going on and what he was even doing. As he felt himself grow tired, his breath ragged and legs aching, he knew he needed to hide and thought the safest place for now was down and very far away in the Dungeons.

As he ran down there he found that the corridor had been blocked off. He was breathing hard, feeling everything spinning around him, when the realization of what had all happened suddenly hit him. He leaned against the wall, falling to the floor and pulling his knees up, burying his head in his arms. He began to cry, terrified and so ashamed that he'd let himself get separated from Pxyis or any of his friends. What if they were dead? Why couldn't he get to the corridor? He felt so overwhelmed, he could do nothing but sit there, frozen from his fear once again.

Humphrey Williams felt for the first time in his entire life terror grip his heart and not let go. It felt like sharp claws were closing in a fist, squeezing the life and feeling out of his heart, while at the same time causing his heart to beat strongly, fighting to maintain it's feeling. But the heart was cut and shredded to pieces and the pain was felt by each of the five senses, a terrible migraine headache, the sound of a waterfall crashing down on him and burying him under water, he saw the girl who he was thinking about dating lying, injured on the floor, he tasted blood as he had bitten his tongue, and he smelled the blood that was filling his mouth. He spat out the blood on the floor, and then ran over to Victoria and Tess.

"Wha-what happened up there Why didn't you two follow me to the trophy room when Healer Henley told us to leave? Victoria, what injured her?" he asked. He looked for the source of Victoria's wounds, but he didn't see anything right away. He knelt over her and hugged her body, the tears streaming down his face onto her beautiful dress, staining it permanently with the salt that was in them. "Tess, what took place after I left. She was fine when I exited the Great Hall." he was confused. He now knew why Haley was angry at him.

"Haley, I'm really sorry. Now I know. Why you flipped on me, that is. I get it now." he couldn't stop the shakes that were racking his body along with the coughing sobs. Victoria, she always seemed so sure of herself, confident. How could she have been the one who was hurt. Plus, she was simply too important to him for her to be hurt, surely. Was Humphrey's future really this dark, first Charlotte hurting him and injuring every part of him with her words, then his second closest friend being injured in a battle. On the same night! Fate was clearly conspiring against Humphrey Williams. He now had a new reason to dislike Divination.

Horst Sollmann was falling over from exhaustion, and when he reached the Dungeons he was barely able to walk to the Slytherin Common Room. He knocked on the door, "Librarian Sollmann, requesting entrance. I would like Healer Henley to make sure I am okay after that fire charm in the Great Hall." He needed to sit down, so he opened the door before he heard a response. Falling into the nearest chair, he slumped and caught his breath. "Healer Henley, would you mind looking me over. Just to make sure I am not injured more than just overwhelming fatigue." he asked her.

Airen was the last to enter when Charlotte shut the door. He sighed. The adrenaline from the fight was wearing off, and he was tired. He was tired of putting up with Humphrey, but also too tired to say anything. He sat beside Charlotte silently. He took hold of her hand and put his other arm over her shoulder. He rubbed her arm slowly, trying hard to comfort her.

Airen looked up at Humphrey. Airen's face showed no emotion for his muscles were too tired to move. The little energy he did have, he used to make a small, faint smile.

"Humphrey, you just need to calm down. All of us do. We're safe here. The adrenaline from the battle left us all antsy and temperamental. While I'll admit that some of us may not have reacted the way we should've, we all need a breather. Just put aside the petty arguments for when we're young kids who aren't in the middle of a surprise attack," he said softly. He laid his head on the wall he and Charlotte were leaning on. Tired, he closed his eyes. Breathing deeply.

A thought suddenly occurred to him. He looked at Healer Henley.

"Madam, shouldn't we make sure there aren't any more students trying to get in. I notice that a few of us are missing," he said, trying to convey a sense of urgency to the Healer.

She was surprised to see Humphrey there before her. She wiped her tears as he held Victoria and she simply sniffled trying to calm herself down.

"Stop shaking her" she rasped out, voice throaty. "She's fine...just facing minor case of psychological scarring. She is in shock....she needs to rest she'll be fine"

Her voice croaked at the end, but soon her ear picked up on something. Someone sobbing. Could they be hurt?

"T-take her with you...I'll be right back...I heard something"

She got up, her bare feet hitting the cold floor and with one look at Victoria she ran off wanting to help whoever was crying.

Parker was still sitting there, trying to take deep breaths and get a handle on himself. He needed to think of what he was going to do next, he couldn't sit here like he was, vulnerable and still. He didn't dare try to go back upstairs, but if he stayed down here with no where to go he could easily be cornered.

He heard a noise coming down the corridor and he tensed, not looking up, curling into a tighter ball, somehow thinking that if he tried hard enough and stayed quiet enough, whatever or whoever it was wouldn't see him if they were one of the people that attacked. Hearing that the footsteps were very soft, he hoped so very much it was Pxyis, if not, just someone to help get him some place safer because then maybe she and the others would be there, safe and perfectly fine.

"Airen, cut me some slack. I was trying to make sure we didn't get killed by one of the Germans walking around Hogwarts at the moment. I for one care about not getting caught unawares. I am trying my best here. If that isn't good enough, then what else can I do? I can't change my personality in a minute. I grew up having to act like this because I had zero friends. I got used to being hard at times because if I let my emotions out I would crash and burn. Now you guys are all my friends, and it is kind of difficult going from zero friends to the whole class of first years essentially. Sorry if I still act a bit rough around the edges." Humphrey needed Airen to understand him. With both their feelings for Charlotte, he needed to be friends with both of them.

"You're sure she's just unconscious, thank the bloody baron. I'm so happy, I thought she might be dead for a second there." he said. "Thanks for bringing her here to Healer Henley Tess." he said kindly, while at the same time running up and hugging her. "This is the best news I've had since this battle started."
