Rekindling (Air and Char)

[Airen Auditoren]

Airen strolled to the Black Lake. He had a simple basket with him. He found the same tree that stood on it's own near the edge of the lake. He set down the basket and opened it. He laid down a blanket he'd borrowed from his aunt. He laid on his back on top of the blanket and looked through the leaves of the tree.

He had asked Charlotte to meet him here. He felt that she'd like a nice lunch with him, chatting and catching up. They'd spent some time together over the summer, but school had ensnared them and they needed a time set for themselves to talk and enjoy each others company.

He began humming a song he'd learned from watching the muggle movie series, the Lord of the Rings. He liked the mysterious or peaceful tunes they had.

He laid there humming and waiting for Charlotte.

Charlotte had recieved a message that Airen wanted to have lunch with her and that had made her happy beyond all belief because she had thought that she must have done something to offend everyone that she used to speak to last year.

Approaching the lake Charlotte smiled wider at how beautiful it looked, it was a very nice day and she had left her robes in the castle, only wearing denim shorts and a strap tshirt.

Without a hitch she spotted Air and dashed towards him a smile on her face, wrapping her arms around him when she got there, Charlotte pecked his cheek:

"Hi Air! Thanks for inviting me out today, it's going to be fun, and you've put so much effort in." she exclaimed.

Airen looked up as Charlotte came dashing toward him. He quickly got up and caught her in a hug. He spun her around in a circle and set her down. He blushed when she pecked him on the cheek. He returned with a peck on her lips.

"Hello, Charlotte. It was my pleasure," he said. Sitting down, he opened the basket and pulled out the food he brought. There was fish and chips, water, apple and orange juice, and box of cupcakes his aunt had sent him through Altaïr.

"Shall we, milady?" he asked, gesturing to the food.

Charlotte herself was getting more comfortable with showing affection to Air, she didn't blush that much any more, but when he pecked her on the lips she couldn't help but flush pink.

Looking at all the food that Airen had brought, Charlotte smiled widely, fish and chips! One of her favourite!

"Oh wow Air, all of this food looks so yummy did you make it?"

With a smile Charlotte sat down next to Airen on the mat and almost glowed with happiness, it was so nice to be around a friend...or boyfriend again. Picking up a cup she filled it with orange juice.

"So, how are you today?" she asked with a slightly smaller smile.

Airen smiled softly at Charlotte. He had missed being this close to her. He could definitely get used to this. The romance between a Gryffindor and a Slytherin was an exciting thought.

"Well, just the fish and chips. My aunt made the cupcakes," he said, smiling at the way she lit up at the food.

Airen wrapped and arm around Charlotte's shoulders in a one arm hug. He smiled at her glowing face. He took his own cup and filled it with water. He 'clinked' their glasses together. Taking a sip, he sighed as the water ran down his throat.

"Right now, I'm on top of the world. You?" he inquired.

"How about a game? 20 questions?" he said after awhile in comfortable silence.

Charlotte couldn't believe that Airen had made the fish and chips, it looked so yummy and cooking hot food was something that she herself was not very good at, it seemed like they balanced each other out.

"That's amazing Air, I couldn't hope to make fish and chips in a million years, I might just have to try one now."

Picking up a chip, Charlotte ate it and a large contented smile appeared on her face, it was so tasty: "That's lovely Airen, you're so good at cooking!"

When he held her close in a one armed hug, Charlotte smiled softly and rested her head on his shoulder, enjoying being close to Airen once more, and she giggled at the 'clink' like she had done at home.

"I'm..." wondering whether to be truthful or not, Charlotte decided to always tell the truth to Airen "I'm okay, a lot better than I was, 20 questions? Sure go ahead!"

Airen blushed under her praise of his chips. He smiled shyly. He took a chip for himself and popped it into his mouth. He was surprised at how good it tasted. He smiled at Charlotte. He took another sip of his water.

"Well, thanks. I could help you if you want," he offered with a smile.

Airen laid his head on hers. He reached with the hand that was on her shoulders to her hair, and bagen playing with it softly. He ran his fingers through it, knowing how much she enjoyed it when he did that. He placed a kiss in her hair as he looked out over the lake.

He heard her hesitate in her answer. She had seemed rather lonely as of late. He was glad that she trusted him with her answer.

"That's good. Maybe you could try talking to your friends again," he suggested.

"Okay, what's your favorite color?" he asked, starting the questions off. He wanted to get to know her better.

The idea of Airen helping her to cook was something that Charlotte thought that she would enjoy, it was a lovely thing that they could do together and it was quite romantic.

"I think that would be a lovely idea, maybe we should do it some time in the future."

Charlotte smiled lightly when she felt Airen's head resting on hers and she closed her eyes listening to the sound of the waves on the lake and the beating of her own heart.

Unable to hold back a purr as Airen played with her hair, Charlotte pushed her head into his hand, taking another chip and eating it.

"Maybe, I don't know if I want to talk to them though, one in particular, I'd much rather stay away..." she said "I was wondering something, if you think it's a good idea..."

Charlotte smiled and said: "My favourite colour is red, what is your favourite book?"

Airen thought of teaching Charlotte how to cook hot foods. He smiled at the possible romanticism of the lessons. He thought of when they could set aside the time.

"Yeah, maybe I could teach you when you visit my home," he offered. He realized that she hadn't been to his house yet.

Airen sat, content to simply have Charlotte by his side with a cool breeze blowing through the trees. He inwardly smirked at how sappy he could be. He smiled as he heard her purr at his ministrations on her hair. He was glad that he could make her so happy.

"As long as you don't leave me, I'll be fine," he said, silently wondering what caused her to drift from her friends. "Yes?" he coaxed. He was curious as to what she was about to ask.

"Hmm..." he said, thinking through all the books he read. It suddenly came to him. "It would have to be Lord of the Rings. I love the characters. What is your favorite flower?" he asked.

Charlotte smiled widely and she nodded her head happily, it was a very nice thought to have, cooking with Airen when she visited his home, it would be so much fun, she could tell.

"I would love that Airen, I'll definately have to come soon then."

When Airen said that he would be happy as long as she didn't leave him, Charlotte turned his face to hers and smiled slightly, looking into his eyes so that he would know how sincere she was:

"I will never leave you as long as you'll have me, mkay? So don't you worry about that."

Biting her lip, Charlotte decided that it would be best to tell someone about what she had planned, and this plan was potentially quite dangerous: "I want to go to Germany and see Viktor."

Charlotte, having not read the book, just smiled still, it was something she might have to look up:

"I've not read that book, I'll have to give it a look over, my favourite flower has to be a lily."

Airen nodded his head, glad that she was coming over to his house. He thought that teaching her to cook would be very good for both of them. He would get some personal time with her, and she'd learn a valuable skill to survive.

"How about during the summer?" he offered.

After he said that he'd be happy with her at his side, he smiled back as she said that she'd be there for him if he'd have her. Looking into her eyes, he quickly got lost in them. He placed a gentle kiss on her lips.

"I won't, then," he said, after drawing away from her lips.

Airen took another sip of his water. He listened to her plan to go and see Viktor. He stilled mid sip. He took the water away from him and set it down so he wouldn't choke on the water.

"Okay, but you're not going alone. I'm coming with you," he said, remembering how he fended of the German in the ambush. He also remembered the sadness the guy showed to see Charlotte in pain.

"I have it and the movie series based on it at my house, so you can read or watch it if you want," he said, smiling.

"Okay, so now if I decide to give you flowers, I'll be able to give you your favorites," Airen said with a cheeky smile.

"What's your favorite class?"

Charlotte smiled happily when Airen suggested the summer, they both were often busy in the other holidays and she liked the guarantee that it would happen then. So with a nod she agreed.

"Yes please I would love that, maybe I can stay over and sleep on the floor or something, then we could do something else the next day."

Feeling Airen's lips on hers made Charlotte flutter her eyes closed and gently kissed him back, glad that he had kissed her, it always made her feel good about herself.

"I'm glad, because worrying can make you sick if you do too much of it."

When Charlotte saw Airen choke on his water, Charlotte hung her head slightly but when he said that he wanted to come with her she bucked up a little: "Really? You want to come with me?"

Beaming a smile out Charlotte nodded her head: "I would love to watch it, are they long...films?" she asked the last bit, unsure.

The idea of Airen giving her flowers made Charlotte flush but she tried to distract herself with answering a question:

"I enjoy potions very much...it's a nice class, when we were learning that charm...did you think I looked better with brown hair?" she asked quietly.

Airen smiled when Charlotte agreed to come to his house over the summer. Though, he wasn't sure that Professor Smith would be alright with her spending the night at a boy's house.

"I'd like that, but only if your father is okay with it. I wouldn't want him to be mad at you," he said, concerned.

Airen smiled against the kiss. He reached a hand up to stroke her cheek softly. This was where he belonged.

Airen laid a hand on Charlotte's shoulder. He looked at her with sincerity in his eyes. "Of course I want to come with you. I promised myself and your father that I'd protect you to the best of my abilities, and I always keep my promises," he said tenderly, stroking her cheek.

"They are, but if you just watch them all the way through, you'll find it has a simple plot," he said, hoping she didn't mind them being long.

Airen thought about her question. True, she did look beautiful with brown hair, but as he thought about it, he realized that he couldn't care less about her hair color.

"I liked it brown, but I prefer you as you are now. Purely Charlotte Smith. What is your favorite book?" he asked.

[Charlotte Smith]

Charlotte grinned a little deviously, if there was one thing she knew how to do it was wrapping her father around her little finger, it worked well when she wanted a dress and it would work in this situation too if she had anything to do with it.

"I'll just give him my cute cat eyes and then he'll give in, he always does, especially if I turn into my cat form, then he's powerless to resist...MWHAHAHA!" she joked

When Airen told her with such sincerity that he wanted to come with her, Charlotte kissed him quickly, blushing as she did so, very happy that he supported her in what she wanted.

"Thank you Airen, im happy that you want me to be safe and I know I will be if I go with you, it will be absolutely fine, I'm not even nervous any more."

The films being long was no problem for Charlotte, as long as they were good and she thought they would be if Airen liked them. Blushing at his answer Charlotte tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Thank you Airen, that means a lot to me, I was wondering if I should change my hair but if you like it, then I'll keep it. My favourite book? I like The Picture of Dorian Grey, it's so chilling! What is your favourite food?"

Airen inwardly gulped at her grin. She seemed to have hatched some kind of master plan. He couldn't help but smile at her impersonation of a villain. He laughed at her joke.

"Either way, I can't wait to have you over," he said. He was briefly concerned if she would mind that his cabin was in a solitary forest. No one around for a few miles. He reminded himself that it was his home. He wouldn't be like that. He lived by the Christian way. She trusted him, and he planned on keeping that trust.

Airen smiled goofily when she pulled back from the kiss. He quickly shook his head and focused on her and what she was saying.

"You're welcome. I care too much about you to let you go alone," he said, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her sweetly.

"Charlotte, the only opinion that matters in your appearance is your own."

Airen thought for a bit about his favorite food. "I think it would have to be muggle macaroni and cheese. It is simple, yet so delicious. What is your favorite type of music?" he asked.

Charlotte was very glad that they both seemed to be as excited as each other for spending more time together Because that could only ever be a good thing when it came to their relationship, because school was often so hectic and busy.

"I know it's going to be amazing, I'm looking forward to it already and it's months away!" she grins clapping her hands in excitement.

Picking up a piece of fish, Charlotte ate it with a happy little sigh, it tasted lovely and she took another piece before she spoke up again: "Im glad that you care so much for me, as much as I care for you..."

Charlotte kissed Airen back softly, closing her eyes and nuzzling their noses together when she pulled away.

"I know nobody elses opinion should matter, but I still like to know which you would have preferred."

Pausing for a moment, Charlotte thought about if she had actually ever had that food and decided that she had not tried it, at least not a proper version of it: "I would like to try it then perhaps, my favourite type of music I think has to be rock, it's just so expressive and the instruments are great, what is your most embarrassing or funny memory?"

Airen smiled kindly at Charlotte. He was glad that she was actually wanting to visit him. He laid down on the blanket, his arms behind his head. He looked through the leaves, noticing how the sunlight broke through them and cast green beams down to the ground.

"I'm sure you'll like it. There is a plain in the front and a forest for a backyard. If you love nature, you'll be right at home there," he said, a proud smile on his face. He built most of it by hand, but he had muggle help with the electronics and what not.

He smiled, glad that she was enjoying the food he made. He took his own piece of fish and took a generous bite. He smiled at the taste. He didn't reply to her statement; he just took her hand gently and stroked his thumb over it softly.

When she pulled back and nuzzled his nose, Airen smiled stupidly. He kissed her quickly again before pulling away and hugging her.

"I'll always like the way you look," he said.

H thought hard about his most embarrassing memory. He'd had quite a few, but the most would have to be...

"It'd have to be when I got the days mixed up, and wore casual clothes on a training day. I was so embarrassed the whole day," he said, laughing now at how silly it was. "What do you like to do in your free time?" he asked.

Charlotte had great fun imagining what Airen's house would be like and she was able to picture it in her head a lot better than before when he told her what was around it, the forest sounded lovely.

"I've always liked forests, you can get lost in them and they are uncommonly beautiful in all the different seasons,but I prefer Autumn especially..."

She mused, thinking on all the different changes to the trees throughout the year. Enjoying the closeness that the two of them were sharing, Charlotte let a permanent smile creep onto her features, she was so much happier now.

"Thank you Airen, just like I think you're the handsomest boy in Hogwarts, but shhh don't tell them that they'll get mad." Charlotte grinned

Unable to stop a small laugh at the memory Airen told her, Charlotte was a little surprised by his question:

"Well besides painting and drawing I've been trying to move onto clay but it's not going too well, I am however enjoying learning to bake the things at Cobies bakery. What is your favourite drink?"

"Si (yes), they are beautiful," Airen said, but his gaze was resting on Charlotte. He smiled softly at how peaceful she looked, and he mentally put her in the forest behind his house with the same contented look on her face.

Airen couldn't help but smile along with her. He sighed and looked through the leaves of the tree again.

"Aww shucks," he said, pretending to be that shy. He mimicked the voice of a Disney character he saw on the TV. The name escaped him at the moment.

Airen thought about his favorite drink. He was the kind of person who liked simple things, so the answer was obvious.

"I like water the best. It's simple, but it's so refreshing. Who's your favorite book character?" he asked.

[Charlotte Smith]

Charlotte blushed lightly as she saw Airen looking at her and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear nervously, stroking the heart that she had drawn on her hand with a small sigh, trying not to let her thoughts wander, she smiled again.

Unable to stop a small giggle at the funny voice that Airen put on, Charlotte poked him on the nose gently, grinning and wondering why he had spoken like that.

"That was a funny voice Air, should I try and do a funny voice next? I think I can do some accents, Cobie was teaching me."

With a small smile, Charlotte nodded, she did like cold water, and the fizzy flavoured water that you could get.

"My favourite book character? Sharpe...have you read any of the Sharpe books? Anyway...what is your favourite animal?"

Airen smiled as Charlotte tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. His eyes caught a black mark on her skin. His eyebrows furrowed together in concentration. He wondered where she got it. With out thinking, he asked her, "What's that?" and pointed at the heart.

He smiled as he heard her giggle. He couldn't believe she found his impersonation of Goofy funny. He blushed when she poked him on the nose. He smiled wider, if that was possible.

"Thanks. It was Goofy from Disney. I saw a few Disney cartoons when I was younger," he said, smiling at the memory. "If you want to," he said in response to her question about doing an accent herself.

"I've heard of the series, but I haven't read it. My favorite animal would have to be just about any bird of prey. I prefer the eagles and owls, though."

"What is your favorite animal?" he asked, curious.

[Charlotte Smith]

Charlotte jumped slightly when Airen spoke, jolting her out of the memories that she had once again submerged herself in, and looking at the heart on her hand, Charlotte blushed slightly and wondered how she was going to explain this.

"It's a heart that I draw on my hand from time to time, to remind me of things that happened in my past, things that are important never to forget..." she said, trailing off towards the end.

Furrowing her brow, Charlotte thought of what accent she could do and she grinned when she got one she was actually quite good at.

"Vell hello zere Airven, I vant to suck your blood mvwahahahahaha!" she giggled, pretending to do her best Dracula impression, even if she had only read the book.

Having to have a long and hard think about this, Charlotte came up with an answer that would be acceptable:

"If I didn't say a vulture Hannibal will appear and peck me to death, but, I have always had a fondness for Tigers, they're just so beautiful, and so deadly."

Charlotte herself thought of a question and smiled, "What is your favourite season?"

Airen realized that he may have overstepped his place in asking that question. He laid a hand over the hand that sported the black heart. He looked into Charlotte's eyes.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have asked that. I know that we both have some secrets that we can't really tell yet. Forget I said anything," he said, feeling guilty for asking that.

Airen bust up laughing at her Dracula accent. He laughed so hard that he had tears coming out of his eyes. He decided to play along.

"No! No! Mercy, sir, mercy!" he said in a high, male British voice.

"Ah, nature's most efficient predator. Good choice. It suits you," Airen replied, smiling. He really did not want to make her angry for fear that she may turn into her own tiger. Beautiful, and so deadly.

"I'd have to choose autumn. It is a balance of heat and cold, not to mention that I love the colors," he said, remembering a picture he drew of two trees. One had orange leaves, and the other still clung to the summer green. The sun just happened to be between the two. He got lucky with that one.

"What is your favorite holiday?" he asked.

[Charlotte Smith]

Charlotte smiled lightly when Airen placed his hand over her own, she didn't really mind what he asked her, because she knew that she would tell him when she was ready to, she just hoped that he wasn't hurt by it.

"I will tell you in time Airen when I'm ready, just like I know you will tell me about your past when you are ready to, I just don't want you to be upset because I didn't tell you."

Trying her best not to burst out into laughter with Air's new accent, Charlotte merely grew some pearly baby fangs and playfully hissed at him, vanishing the fangs she swooped in and kissed his neck.

"Om a nom a nom." she grinned

Unsure if being compared to a tiger was a good thing or not, Charlotte merely smiled softly and pretended to rawr, but then, she got an idea and closed her eyes, morphing into a snow tiger cub and bounding onto Airen's lap, looking up into his eyes with a happy 'Mew'.

Airen returned Charlotte's smile. He was glad that she wasn't offended that he had asked that. Sending her a small smile, he kissed her cheek.

"I understand completely. I was just worried that I had overstepped my place by asking you about it," he said. That was his major flaw. He always had self doubt in the social department due to his lack of friends as a child.

Airen smiled as Charlotte played along and used her metamorphous abilities to give her self vampire teeth. He laughed as she kissed his neck and pretended to eat him. He feigned despair and death. Letting out a long breath, he stuck his tongue out as if dead. He opened his eyes and smiled at Charlotte.

Jumping a little, Airen smiled at the cute tiger cub that his girlfriend had disguised herself as. He petted Charlotte softly, scratching her behind the ears and on her back.
