Fourth years, second lesson DADA
Lucia walked into her classroom and sat down. Today, she was bringing out something to test the students on. She was smiling wickedly at herself and her evil plan. A test. Exactly. It would be a test to see what they had gotten from last two years.
"Welcome students. Today, you will all answer a small test for me. It is nothing too serious, though I will give five housepoints for every right answer," Lucia said with a soft smile.
She then walked around and gave out blank papers. "The questions are as follows," she said and waved her wand at the blackboard where eight questions appeared.
1. What is the purpose of Defense against the Dark Arts?
2. What are the dark arts?
3. What is a grindylow?
4. What is a firecrab?
5. What is the difference between a hex and a curse?
6. What is a boggart?
7. Where can one find Salamanders?
8. What is a patronus?
Lucia walked back up to her desk and looked at the students. "Begin," she said kindly and watched as they started writing.

Re: Fourth years, second lesson DADA
Haley walked into the DADA lesson and sat down. She was still not in a good mood, though the foul one had dampened slightly. Still, she sat down in a corner and listened as professor Henley told them what they were to do. She wanted to throw something at the wall when she heard of a test. She then got a blank paper and read the questions. It wasn't so bad.
1. The purpose is to make us students prepare for what is dark and horrible in this world so we can fight it off without having to turn and use the same means as others are.
2. The dark arts is a way of magic that is on the illegal side. Very often, the dark arts physically hurt other people/the people the dark arts are used upon.
3. A grindylow is a creature found in the Black Lake, and other salt seas. It is a very small creature who latches onto your skin and is easily repelled by fire or electric sparks. They have foreign skins that will burn your own the first time you're touched by it.
4. A firecrab is a firecreature, looking like a turtle. It shoots flaming fire from its rear end, and is defeated by a turning hex.
5. A hex is a much less serious spell than a curse. Hexes can be pulled as nasty pranks and the like, though curses all hurt the person it is performed on.
6. A boggart is a creature who takes the shape of the thing you fear the most. Its shape is changed by the spell 'Ridikulus', though the way to destroy a boggart, is laughter.
At the seventh question, Haley bit her lip. Where? In warm places? Or was she talking more specifically like a location? She frowned. She wouldn't know a location.
7. Salamanders can be found in warm places, and spring out from magical fires. They can only be defeated by a freezing charm or the aquamenti spell. But they can still move and get to their fire and gain their powers back. The first thing you should do is instinguish the fire and then the salamander.
8. A patronus is a silver whisp that takes form of your favorite creature, be it magical or not. It protects you against darkness, mostly used against Dementors, though they can also be used on creatures that hate light, like the Lethifold, and the Gytrash.
Haley leaned back in her chair when she was done, and waited for the lesson to end.
(OOC: I'll be gone from Tuesday until Sunday, so I won't be posting more in this lesson. In other words, Haley will be inactive. This also includes Lucia Henley )

Re: Fourth years, second lesson DADA
Charlotte walked into the lesson and she wondered what was going on when she saw that there was only one other person and her actually in the lesson already, normally she liked to be early but lately she had been feeling more and more awkward when she had been in classes, she barely knew anyone apart from Airen and Humphrey.
Sighing a little she sat down and got out her things to begin to work, hopefully she would be able to at least get the work done this lesson, she had been more than distracted in her other classes.
Looking at the questions on the board she decided to answer them as best she could do.
1. What is the purpose of Defense against the Dark Arts?
The purpose of Defense against the Dark Arts, is so that when we have to face some of the creatures we learn about, or some of the spells that we know, we are able to defend ourselves and the people around us.
2. What are the dark arts?

3. What is a grindylow?
A grindylow is a creature that inhabits water, and they attack humans by the use of their skin property that burns when they touch you, you could encounter a grindylow in the Black Lake.
4. What is a firecrab?
A firecrab is an elemental creature that uses fire attacks to burn its targets, it looks somewhat like a turtle crossed with a crab.
5. What is the difference between a hex and a curse?
Hexes are less serious spells, and often they can be reversed easily whereas a curse could be a lot more serious and may be unable to be reversed quite so readily, or at all.
6. What is a boggart?
A boggart is a creature that turns into whatever a person fears the most, it can be easily dispelled by the use of the Riddikulus charm, where the caster must think of something funny to dispell the boggart.
7. Where can one find Salamanders?
Salamanders are another elemental creature, they are normally found in warm places since they are a fire orientated creature.
8. What is a patronus?
A patronus is a physical manifestation of the positive thoughts and feelings of the caster of the spell, it is used as a defence spell against Dementors.
Charlotte hoped that all her answers would be correct as she lay her quill down after writing all her answers.

Re: Fourth years, second lesson DADA
He walked into DADA, and saw that Haley and Charlotte were already there. Taking a seat next to Haley, he got out parchment, ink, and quill. Interesting, Professor Henley was starting off with a review test. Humphrey figured he may as well get started on it.
1. What is the purpose of Defense Against the Dark Arts?
I think that the purpose of Defense Against the Dark Arts is to prepare us for the real world. If we have to face a dark creature, what we learn here can help us survive. Also, it could help us to avoid dangerous creatures, so we never even have to fight them.
Defense Against the Dark Arts also prepares us to defend ourselves from dark magic. It can teach us how to defend ourselves from curses, hexes, and the like.
2. What are the dark arts?
Dark arts are any type of magic that is used for evil, to harm others in any way. Evil creatures are also considered part of the dark arts.
3. What is a grindylow?
A grindylow is a creature that lives in water, and their skin burns when touched by humans. They attack people that invade their territory and try to drown them. There are some that live in the Black Lake.
4. What is a firecrab?
A firecrab is an animal that looks a bit like a crab and uses fire to attack things. It can cause burns, and is dangerous.
5. What is the difference between a hex and a curse?
Hexes are essentially less serious than curses. They can be dangerous, but are more easily fixed than curses. Curses, on the other hand, are very dangerous and can even be deadly. Much harder to fix damage done by a curse than a hex.
6. What is a boggart?
A boggart is a creature that turns into a person's worst fear. The Riddikulus charm is used to turn them into something amusing to that person. Laughter finished off boggarts.
7. Where can one find salamanders?
Salamanders are another fire-oriented creature, and can be found in hot places.
8. What is a patronus?
A patronus is the positive force that can be drawn from our happy thoughts. The expecto patronus incantation is used to produce the patronus. It is a very difficult charm though, and you must think of a very powerful happy memory to do it properly.
When done perfectly, the patronus charm takes the form of an animal specific to the caster.
Humphrey finished writing, and hoped that he did a good enough job. He had tried his best with it.

Re: Fourth years, second lesson DADA
Entering the classroom, she winced as she realized it was a quiz. She hated written quizzes and she groaned softly as she saw the question. Now she had to try to remember everything.
' I can do this'she thought.
Taking out her quill she began to write.

8. What is a patronus?
A Patronus is a kind of positive force, and for the wizard who can conjure one, it works something like a shield of happy energy. From this charm, if properly conjured, becomes the shape of an animal, thought to be your spirit animals, or spirit guardians.

Re: Fourth years, second lesson DADA
Airen entered the classroom. He was glad that he wasn't late. He almost overslept, so he had to rush to get here this morning. He rubbed his eyes tiredly. He had been woken up late last night due to a nightmare. And what else could the nightmare be about but That Night, as he had come to call it in his mind. Shaking his head, he slid into his seat next to Charlotte. He gave her a warm smile and got to work on the assignment.
1. What is the purpose of Defense against the Dark Arts?
The purpose of Defense against the Dark Arts is to give a person knowledge of ways to both defend themselves, and counteract spells, creatures, and other dark forces.
2. What are the dark arts?
The dark arts are the ways magic is used for ill will. The spell can be light, but it is used with dark intentions.
3. What is a grindylow?
A grindylow is a demon that dwells in the water. It has horns and long, spindly fingers that it uses to grab and pull it's victims down underwater.
4. What is a firecrab?
A firecrab is an elemental creature that looks like a turtle crossed with a crab. As the name suggests, it'll shoot fire from it's rear end to burn attackers in self defense.
5. What is the difference between a hex and a curse?
Curses are darker, and are typically created for a malicious intention. Hexes are commonly used for pranks, and they almost never harm some one permanently or try to kill
6. What is a boggart?
A boggart is a creature that is the epiphany of fear. It can take the form of a person's worst fear. Counter it with the Riddikulus spell.
7. Where can one find Salamanders?
Salamanders are fiery lizards that tend to dwell in warm or hot places, typically in volcanoes or similar areas.
8. What is a patronus?
A corporeal patronus is the animal manifestation of a person's patronus charm. This can only be achieved if the memory is very happy and holds a deep meaning for that person.
Airen looked over his answers and deemed them satisfactory. He was a bit unsure of his answer to the second, but he figured that he may as well answer honestly. Setting down his quill, he propped his head on one of his hands and tried to keep his eyes open.
